Hi , this is meteorologist Steve Pelletieri and I am the weatherman . Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Sunday . It is the 14th day of the month of July and a month that's been showing quite a bit of hot weather all across the nation Excessive , almost record , near record heat in many locations , especially in the southwest and in the western plain states . High pressure is building down into the Dakotas . That's a nice high pressure system . It's going to have more seasonable conditions but it's going to be pressing very , very slowly to the east Series of cold fronts moving down out of Canada , staying to the north , as is typical this time of year . Weather for the northeast part we have a stationary front that lies from DC right up to the Boston area . To the east it's more of an easterly flow . East it's more of an easterly flow keeps the temperatures along the Jersey Shore , the coast of Delmarva , long Island , long Island Sound and also the islands in coastal Massachusetts On the cooler side , as the ocean temperatures are still only in the mid to upper 60s but going up quickly , especially with the heat and the light winds we'll be having over the next several days . Weather for Sunday calling for sunshine , mid-90s , with excessive heat warnings coming up for this week . It's a heat advisory right now for most places as temperatures reach the mid-90s daytime there's a isolated thunderstorm as a possibility , with that stationary front across the region during the later afternoon and early evening . On Sunday , monday , sunny and hot Heat index values 100 to 105 , at temperatures for the day ranging between 95 and 100 degrees . Similar situation for Tuesday and Wednesday each day with a chance to pop up air mass thunderstorms . Then that strong cold front finally arrives on Thursday actually a pre-dawn Thursday and Wednesday night . That will give you nice weather with temperatures generally in the 80s for Thursday , friday and Saturday of this week .

If you're traveling on Sunday , well , out of the New York area , no problems there , just a lot of heat , and down into the Atlanta area also generally fair sky . Charlotte , isolated afternoon thunderstorms , but no problems weather-wise there . South Florida is going to be under extensive showers and thunderstorms so there could be some delays at Tampa , st Pete , fort Myers , fort Lauderdale or Miami . And looking out to the Texas coast , houston also having showers and thunderstorms just lingering into the Dallas-Fort Worth area but dry out towards Amarillo and Lubbock . Out on the West Coast looks like dry conditions for the most part from LA all the way up to Seattle and Tacoma and it looks like there will be some interior showers and monsoon thunderstorms across the four corner states , nevada and interior southeastern California as well .
