Speaker 1:

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom On your Monday. It is the 15th, the Ides of July halfway through the month just about, and we are looking at some heat in the east. Looks like the excessive heat warning will be in effect probably right up through Wednesday. We do see a frontal system arriving in the northeast corner sometime on Thursday or Wednesday night and Thursday night will cause some showers and thunderstorms and then bring in some drier air, at least cooler, more seasonable conditions as we head towards the end of this week and this upcoming weekend. But for today we are looking at scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. We saw them yesterday. You know temperatures weren't really that bad. They did get into the lower 90s generally in the city, dc and also up to the Boston area in the 80s, but there were heavy thunderstorms that moved just north of Philadelphia down into central and southern New Jersey and then far offshore. Similar pattern will once again develop during the daytime on Monday, but it will be sunny and hot. Mid-90s for the most part Could be near 95 to 100 on Tuesday and Wednesday, both days with heat index values between 105 and 109. So that's very excessive heat. Excessive heat warning will be in effect, I mentioned right up through the middle portion of the month. Just got to take care. In the afternoon hours you can't really exert yourself. You're going to be out and outdoors. Plenty of water, drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. Well, light-fitting clothing of loose color and material is best and we can get through this heat in the northeast this early portion of this week.

Speaker 1:

Elsewhere across the nation we are looking at some scattered thunderstorms in Atlanta, also in Charlotte. Scattered showers and thunderstorms Nothing major. Central and south Florida still under showers and thunderstorms nothing major. Central and South Florida still under showers and thunderstorms. It's the rainy season down here right now, so it's actually going to be on and off, afternoon and evening thunderstorms and pre-dawn thunderstorms as well. Houston's looking good. Dallas just on the hot side. Of course, that heat across much of the Central and Western Plains states will continue down into Texas where temperatures have been reaching 100, 105 each and every day in many locales. Four Corners still having the monsoons with lots of showers and thunderstorms there. West Coast generally dry, from San Diego right up through Portland and Seattle. So recapping for today no problems.

Speaker 1:

Major problems as far as aviation interest if you're flying on this Monday or even on Tuesday Scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Best time to fly is in the morning hours, when the conditions are relatively light. There is usually some patchy fog, but just what we call standard IFR conditions there, and you're also getting out early before all the heavy afternoon thunderstorms. One thing we do see is some possibility of some locally severe weather in southern Wisconsin and northern portions of Indiana and northeast Iowa, northeast Illinois as well. This is associated with a series of frontal systems that will be moving through and that could cause some delays into the Chicago area on Monday and on Tuesday. Once again it looks like more heat, excessive heat, up through Wednesday. On your Monday, look for sunshine for the most part and afternoon and evening thunderstorms with temperatures in the northeast between 92 and 97 degrees, a touch close to 100. On Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking in. Talk to you first thing on Tuesday, keep cool.
