Speaker 1:

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Tuesday. It is the 27th day of the month of August 2024. And well, first let's take a look at the pollen, because it's really a bad situation. It's ragweed and that is the very high amounts of ragweed pollen causing quite a bit of allergy distress to people all across the country, especially in the eastern seaboard, from the Virginias northward up through New York State, central and southern New England and then westward through the Ohio and Tennessee Valley into the central Plains states, the central Mississippi River Valley. We do have a little break up in northeastern corners of Minnesota and the western Great Lakes, western Lake Superior, but still very high ragweed pollen into Nebraska, kansas, oklahoma, north Texas, all the way up to the Dakotas, montana, colorado and Wyoming. West Coast still looking pretty good. Very little pollen across the western portions of Washington and Oregon but just moderate amounts of pollen in California and in Nevada and Idaho.

Speaker 1:

At this point, weather-wise for the Northeast Carter, probably a day that's probably going to be one of the hottest in the month of August, that will be on Wednesday across the Northeast Carter, where temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s, heat index values from 100 to 105. So for Wednesday not not today, but for tomorrow we are going to have an excessive heat watch, in effect from about noon until 8 pm. So for today though, temperatures ranging up to near 90, tomorrow mid to upper 90s, with that excessive heat watch, late day and evening thunderstorms. Temperatures will be cooler on thursday and that means a return to more normal conditions for the remainder of this month and to start the new month of September as we get into this upcoming Labor Day weekend. Labor Day weekend forecast, for the most part, for the Northeast corner at least, will be showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, dry weather on Sunday and Labor Day Monday, but we'll have more to say on that as the week continues.

Speaker 1:

If you're traveling on this Tuesday airline hubs across the nation we're looking mostly, of course, at Atlanta, the number one hub, and Charlotte, also looking generally fair conditions there. Newark, new York, laguardia, jfk and Philadelphia all looking pretty good, as does Boston and DC, although there might be some late-day thunderstorms at Dulles In the Texas area looks like just some scattered showers. At Houston, dry and Dallas-Fort Worth, but hot Showers and thunderstorms will cause some delays into Chicago and possibly into Minneapolis-St Paul on Tuesday and Tuesday night with the weather front moving through there and it looks like still some rain showers in the eastern four corners and also up in Montana, northern Idaho, but the west coast generally dry from San Diego all the way up to Portland and Washington State, including Seattle. I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletier, and I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. We'll talk to you first thing on Wednesday, more to say about that pollen, and we'll take a look at the holiday weekend. Take care.
