Speaker 1:

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Thursday. It is the 29th day of the month of August 2024. It has some very warm weather across the mid-Atlantic and northeast with some frontal systems moving through and that's causing some scattered showers, a little bit of cloud cover. From DC up to the Boston area. Temperatures will not be as warm today. As a matter of fact, we're looking for highs generally in the range to about 80 degrees, 80 to 85. Cooler to the north and west and a better chance of some scattered showers moving in for tonight and for the early portion of Friday. But by Friday afternoon high pressure is going to try to nudge into the northeast but it looks like it's going to be stuck across the Great Lakes. That will keep our temperatures into the 70s. After a chance of showers, more showers will be moving in as these frontal systems start to arrive. Later Saturday and Saturday night. It could be some locally heavy downpour Saturday evening, early Sunday, then the high pressure building in behind. That is going to be very nice.

Speaker 1:

It's going to give us great weather for Labor Day, monday for the Northeast, continuing through Tuesday and Wednesday. As a matter of fact, fair weather will extend from the Great Lakes right through the Virginias and into the New England states and some cooler flows. As a matter of fact, I'm going to start feeling that little cooler flow to the air as we begin meteorological autumn on the first day of September on Sunday, lots of folks complaining about the ragweed pollen, ragweed allergies that have been plaguing much of the nation. The central and eastern portion of the nation is really no let up in sight at this point. However, I think, as that high pressure starts to build in, initially later on Sunday and Monday, I might get a little relief, at least to the Ohio Valley and into the Northeast, but that's going to be short-lived because this is the time for ragweed.

Speaker 1:

Ragweed is very high all across the central Mississippi River Valley through the Tennessee Valley down through the Carolinas, also from New York and New Jersey. However, it's a little bit better because of the chance of some scattered showers, which tends to clean the atmosphere. Colorado, western sections of Nebraska and South Dakota also under very high ragweed Ragweed also a problem from central California down through Four Corners and then in through central and northern Texas, just along the Texas Gulf Coast, louisiana and central and southern Florida, because there'll be some rain showers. The atmosphere is cleansed there, so not too much of a problem for ragweed in those places over the next several days. So, as mentioned, this ragweed situation is going to continue, probably at least into that first half of the weekend at least.

Speaker 1:

Lots of folks will be traveling this holiday weekend and starting out on Thursday it looks like the weather situation not too bad at Newark DC and also up to the Boston area. But there are some heavier showers and thunderstorms moving into Chicago and also into Detroit. Sections of the central Mississippi River Valley will also be under showers and thunderstorms, moving into Chicago and also into Detroit. Sections of the central Mississippi River Valley will also be under showers and thunderstorms as that frontal system will extend from right around the central Great Lakes all the way down into north Texas and become stationary there right in through the four corners region. West Coast is going to remain dry. Atlanta is going to be pretty good, but there will be showers in Charlotte Also.

Speaker 1:

Showers and thunderstorms in central and southern Florida. That shall slow things there. Some heavier thunderstorms in central and southern Florida that shall slow things there. Some heavier thunderstorms in Houston and also Dallas-Fort Worth. Your drier weather is going to be across the nation's midsection, from St Louis all the way up through the Dakotas into Idaho and the West Coast, san Diego to LA, san Francisco and up to Seattle, looking at pretty good weather for flying over the next couple of days. Real problems are going to be basically across the nation's midsection when that frontal system is stationary and we'll probably have a few airline delays into the DC, newark and New York and Boston area, probably sometime later Saturday and Saturday night as a strong cold front moves through and then dry weather for early next week. I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletier, and I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day on your Thursday.
