Speaker 1:

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Welcome to Labor Day Monday. It is the second day of September 2024 and we're looking at some very nice weather across the area, much of the nation today, one of the places that we see a lot of rainfalls on, across central and southern Texas, along the Louisiana Gulf Coast, also panhandle of Florida down into the Florida Peninsula, and also scattered showers and thunderstorms in Central and Eastern Georgia, central and Eastern North and South Carolina. But the high-pressure cell is right over Chicago and the Great Lakes. Fair weather extends from eastern Montana right through the Dakotas, through the Great Lakes right to the mid-Atlantic states and a forecast for the Northeast Corridor, dc, up to the Boston area, including Central and Northern New Jersey, where we're located, and New York City. We've got sunny weather for today 70s to lower 80s, clear at night. It's going to be cool at night, about 50 to 55,. Plenty of sunshine for Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday, wednesday and Thursday all looking fair Each day, temperatures in the 70s to near 80, nighttime lows back into the 50s. So it's going to be fair conditions through the next several days up into this upcoming weekend.

Speaker 1:

If you're traveling on this Monday, monday evening or early Tuesday for the holiday. It looks like we do have some light delays in the Atlanta area. Not much in Charlotte, newark, new York, laguardia, jfk all looking very good, no problems weather-wise into those areas. If you have some delays it's because of either airline equipment or scheduling delays. In Chicago it's looking good. Minneapolis, st Paul, boston also fine. It's in Texas where you're going to have scattered, heavy thunderstorms at Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. That will cause some delays into there. Expect delays during the afternoon and evening on Monday and possibly the same situation on Tuesday as that frontal system will almost become stationary down there. We're hoping that it pushes down to the south into the Gulf of Mexico. West Coast, of course, has been dry and will continue to be dry from San Diego to LA, san Francisco all the way up to Portland and Seattle. Dry conditions for your holiday Monday and on Tuesday as well, only rainy weather that we do see across western Montana, much of Idaho and northern Utah. There will be occasional rain and showers and thunderstorms in those places both Monday and Tuesday.

Speaker 1:

Here's the update for fall allergies. Of course we've been really dealing with some tough ragweed pollution and that will not break today. It will not break tomorrow and possibly not even Wednesday or Thursday. So we've got a tough week. If you are allergic to ragweed or ragweed pollen gives you very tough physical conditions. Because of the rainy weather.

Speaker 1:

In Texas it looks like it's not going to be a big problem there, or central and south Florida, but we've got, because of high pressure and dry conditions, lots of ragweed pollen in the air from New Jersey across to Pennsylvania, through the Great Lakes, all the way out to the Dakotas, central and western plain states, all the way out to the Dakotas, central and western plain states, northern Texas, from about Amarillo, north then to Colorado and eastern sections of Wyoming, eastern sections of Montana.

Speaker 1:

But there is some rainy weather that's going to cause a little bit less as far as any pollen is concerned in sections of Idaho, northern Utah and, of course, the Pacific Northwest. No problem there, as the winds are coming right off the Pacific and not too bad in California as well, but still lots of bad ragweed from the central parts of the nation. East Weather-wise it's going to be beautiful If you can put up with the pollen and the hay fever for the autumn Autumn hay fever just starting to kick in. We are going to have some great weather for this first week of September. Hope you all have a great Labor Day holiday. Talk to you first thing on Tuesday.
