Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Wednesday. It's the sixth day of November 2024. And watching for what we're expecting to be Hurricane Raphael to be moving towards the Gulf Coast of Louisiana or Mississippi and possibly making land sometime either on Friday night or early Saturday sometime either on Friday night or early Saturday, after which time it probably will become absorbed as a tropical depression and then low pressure across the Tennessee Valley and then move towards the northeast and hopefully bring some rainy weather to the northeast. But the storm is probably going to be either a Category 1 or 2 by the time it makes landfall somewhere around Louisiana or Mississippi or Alabama, western Florida, and that again late Friday, early Saturday. We'll have more to say on Thursday's report.

In the meantime, for today we've got some pretty good weather for the northeast and elsewhere across the nation. It looks like some showers and thunderstorms still across the central Great Lakes, extending all the way down on a stationary front that's going to be across Louisiana, and still quite a bit of snow across sections of Montana and the mountains and also over northern portions of Wyoming and northern Idaho, also spilling as some rain into North Dakota and South Dakota. Eventually high pressure will be building south from Canada. That'll be moving eastward and should be in the eastern seaboard by sometime later on Thursday and Friday with some cooler, more seasonable temperatures, but it's got to be a warm one today. From DC up to the Boston area Expect high temperatures in the 70s to near 80 in DC, 82 there, 82 or 83 degrees in Baltimore Very warm for this time of year. Same thing in Philly around 81,. New York City near 80. 77 up in the Boston area, all with fair skies. That frontal system moves in during the nighttime and early morning on Thursday and it could provide a few light showers, but it really doesn't look like anything much. A lot of that will be drying out as it heads further eastward and then high pressure builds southward from the Great Lakes and builds into the region for Thursday, friday and Saturday, and then hopefully some of that moisture in the mid-Atlantic and northeast from the remains of Raphael in our area in the northeast on Sunday and early Monday on Veterans Day.

In the meantime, though, if you're flying on this Wednesday, it looks like decent weather into the Atlantic region. There will be some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Similar situation in Charlotte scattered showers and thunderstorms during the latter portion of the afternoon as that frontal system gets closer, no problems weather-wise into Baltimore, philly, newark, laguardia or even up in the Boston area as well. Out in Chicago the front's gone through, so decent conditions there. Same thing up in Green Bay, although there will be some showers. Up in Duluth and sections of Minnesota. West Coast is looking dry, from LA up to San Francisco Some rainy weather moving into the Pacific Northwest by later Wednesday and Thursday. I'm Eddie Rodgers, steve Filatieri and I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. We'll have an update on Raphael first thing on Thursday. Talk to you then.
