Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Monday. It's the 25th day of November, it's Thanksgiving week. A lot of folks flying. You can go back to the weather situation. That, or the weather discussion I should say, that I had on Sunday.
Speaker 0:Sunday's report gives you a pretty good idea weather-wise as far as what's going to happen travel-wise for this upcoming week, the number one travel week of the year. As a matter of fact, we are looking at some pretty good conditions on this Monday. It's not bad in the New York Newark area but there is an approaching frontal system. It's already gone through Chicago. It'll be coming up on the Atlanta area during the latter portion of the afternoon and evening. So getting into Atlanta for this evening there'll be some showers and thunderstorms and a clearing trend, so a little bit of minor delays there. Minor delays also in Charlotte. However, as we head out towards the southern portions of Florida looking good West Palm at Miami, fort Lauderdale and also over in the Fort Myers area, that's Tampa, st Pete, also looking pretty good, dry conditions in Houston and Dallas, and up in Minneapolis it's going to get colder but they are looking at fair conditions. It's out on the west coast of those storms continue to pummel the northwestern corner of the nation, causing mountain snows in the Rockies and also the Sierra Nevada. However, it looks like much needed rainfall for San Francisco, southward all the way to Los Angeles, and there was even some light shower action in southern California near San Diego as well, as the storms continue to move in from the northwest. So if you are traveling this week, it does look like that possibility of some scattered showers and some isolated delays in the Atlanta area later today and tonight. But for tomorrow, well, it looks like the frontal system goes through. So dry conditions in Chicago, new York, atlanta, miami, also into Texas and Minneapolis, west Coast still under those heavy storms and lots of snow across the Rockies for skiers in Colorado, wyoming, idaho and Montana. Even North Dakota is going to get some snowfall too from this situation, some heavy snows as well.
Speaker 0:But as we head towards Wednesday, though, looking at another area of low pressure arriving in the east and that's going to cause some delays. Wednesday night, early thursday thanksgiving day so best to travel early wednesday or late tuesday that's the best day for traveling. Then we get into thursday, maybe some showers early, then a clearing trend. So we head towards friday of this week. The storm will be offshore but a slow mover, so still some isolated showers and maybe even some snow showers across the Great Lakes. But the drying conditions out on the west coast, but still the possibility of some showers in San Francisco, but nothing that's going to hold back weather travel into those places and even into Seattle Tacoma.
Speaker 0:The weather is going to be improving. We're heading to this upcoming weekend and the beginning of December next Sunday. So we're looking at a weather situation for today of increasing clouds for the northeast corner and the possibility of December next Sunday. So we're looking at a weather situation for today of increasing clouds for the northeast corner and the possibility of some showers overnight tonight and tomorrow. The front moves through, high pressure moves in on Tuesday, so a good day then. Temperatures will actually get up to around 60 on Tuesday in many spots in the northeast. However, by Wednesday an increase in clouds will bring us possibility of that rainy condition that could cause a little bit of snow in New York State and the Pacific, in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania and the eastern Great Lakes. That'll be on Wednesday night, early Thursday and, as we said, we're getting to a clearing trend towards the end of the week as well. I've been your host, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today and hope to talk to you first thing on Tuesday. Take care.
