Hi, this is BD Brown, justine Pelletier and I'm the Weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Wednesday. It is the 18th day of the month of December, quickly coming up to the Christmas holiday and the beginning of the new year. Well, weather-wise, up along the eastern seaboard we've got some rainy weather for, especially this afternoon and tonight It'll look like tremendous rain, somewhere between maybe a quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rain from DC up to the Boston area. Heaviest rainfall most likely centered around the center of the low pressure system which will be over the Delmarva Peninsula. But if you're traveling on this Wednesday, probably some delays in and out of New York, newark, laguardia, jfk JFK always does a great job with getting folks in and out because they've got so many runways there. But also up in the Boston area and Baltimore and DC will probably have some delays as well. No major delays in the Atlanta area, although they do have a cold front moving through there. They'll be able to handle that quite well. They have a lot of runways there and that gigantic airport, most transfers, busiest airport in the world in many places and many concerns, and even in Charlotte.
Speaker 0:At this point we're looking at areas of rain. West Coast not bad. La and San Francisco generally dry, portland maybe some showers, but a little bit of drier weather finally for Seattle. But we do see those big storms. Another area of low pressure working its way out of the North Pacific That'll be hitting the Pacific Northwest. In Texas looks dry, in Houston and in Dallas-Fort Worth Also out in El Paso, four corners looking dry. Chicago, minneapolis also dry weather. Generally that's going to be changing. Major Arctic cold front will be arriving in the east.
Speaker 0:We've had temperatures well above normal in the eastern seaboard, actually the eastern third of the country, well above normal temperature-wise. But you know, for the New York City area they've actually been about three degrees below normal temperature-wise so far this month of December. Now it's going to work on that this week because we are going to see colder conditions moving in this weekend after generally mild weather that we've had for the first three days of this week. But it will get colder this weekend into early next week. Then it looks like near normal conditions for the middle of next week and then the last week of this year, probably getting a little bit above normal On balance, about a degree below for New York City and for the DC area but well above normal rainfall-wise. That's good news because we had very dry conditions during the fall months.
Speaker 0:So weather situation for the Northeast corridor Overcast and rainy day today. Highs 45 to 50. Tonight that rain ends and nighttime low temperatures down to 30 to 35. Could be some patchy black ice with some of the moisture on the roadways and walkways towards daybreak tomorrow and then as we head towards daytime on Thursday, a nice day sunshine. Highs will range up to about 44. Still a little bit above normal for this time of year, but not too bad. It's on Friday that we could have some rain and snow showers and possibly some snow squalls. With an arctic front due to move through the region, we'll bring us cold weather only in the upper 20s and lower 30s across DC to Boston this upcoming weekend.
