Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Thursday. It's the 19th day of December, getting close to the big day and looking at the end of the year coming up real fast and weather-wise, well across the Northeast it was another mild day, but it looks like that's going to be changing over the next several days. First, if you're traveling today, it looks like it's good weather in Atlanta and Charlotte and also in DC, baltimore and Nashville. No problems down in central and south Florida, although there'll be a few thunderstorms just off the coast of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, but it looks like they'll be isolated and no major problems. Southwest airport at Fort Myers looking at pretty good weather. Also at Tampa, st Pete Good conditions in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Don't expect weather delays into there. Out in the West Coast, la and San Francisco are dry. Looks like the rain's moving back in to Portland and Seattle.
Speaker 0:But I didn't mention Chicago. That's because they're going to be having some snow and there could be some significant delays in and around the Chicago area, especially later today and tonight. The early going doesn't look too bad, but later in the afternoon and evening there will be an area of low pressure moving down out of the Pacific Northwest and possibly giving quite a bit of snow and ice. So that usually causes delays into the Chicago area. If you are flying out that way today from anywhere, it looks like there will be delays and slowdowns. But as far as the weather across the northeast corner is concerned, for your Thursday, not too bad mostly sunny, high temperatures ranging into the low to middle 40s. At night it'll be cloudy down into the upper 20s and that storm over Chicago that I mentioned will be arriving in the east and moving offshore. But our upper-level low-pressure system is following it and that's going to bring some snow showers and squalls to around the New York City area, up to the Boston area, up to Albany and even possibly in Philly as well, south Jersey.
Speaker 0:It all depends on the development of that storm offshore and the storm, the upper-level storm, moving across the region. It's basically an Arctic front moving through Friday night early Saturday. There could cause between a coating as much as an inch or two of snowfall in some places between DC and Boston on Saturday in the pre-dawn hours, friday night, early Saturday. Then sharply colder for Saturday and Sunday, both days with sunshine. Maybe some flurries on Saturday but sharply colder on Sunday, with temperatures both days only in the upper 20s and lower 30s. The cold weather will continue into Monday, a slight moderation on Tuesday and a possibility of some more snow showers for the Northeast sometime on Christmas Eve. So stay tuned. I've been your biologist, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. We'll talk to you first thing on Friday. Take care.
