Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletierian. I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Thursday. It's the ninth day of the month of January 2025. A very cold, windy weather continues across the northeast. Those winds are strong and little upper-level troughs swinging on down out of central there in eastern Canada, moving across the northern portion of New York State, up around the Adirondacks, central and northern Vermont and even up into Maine of New York State, up around the Adirondacks, central and northern Vermont and even up into Maine, and those snow showers tend to dry out because of the very dry air, but very cold air that heads across the New York City area. So another sunny day today there, but temperatures will reach close to freezing, with the wind chills still making it feel like the teens in single digits. As a wind advisory will continue in many interior spots across the northeast on this Thursday At night it will be clear, with nighttime low temperatures in the middle 20s and then on Friday, sunshine with temperatures a bit warmer and a little less wind. Our highs for the day will range into the middle 30s by Sunday. Saturday and Sunday, actually, we get into a little bit of a change. On Saturday, a strong pass to our south Looks like it may give some snow once again to northern virginia, sections of the dc area, central and southern delmarva and southern new jersey, but elsewhere across new york city probably just coatings to maybe an inch or two. That'll be on saturday, then sunday high pressure builds in. It looks like some decent weather for monday through wednesday of next week.

If you're traveling on this Thursday, it looks like still gusty winds in the northeast will keep some delays to one or two hours for departure and arrivals at Newark and also JFK and LaGuardia and up around the Boston area. Even some snow showers are expected. Philly's not doing too bad. The winds will be a little bit lighter there but clear skies down at Wilmington and DC. Also down in Charlotte it'll be clear. Clear in Atlanta and South Florida is looking also dry. A little bit warmer out in Chicago in VFR conditions but no problems getting into Chicago. But in Minneapolis, st Paul, good possibility of some snow and several inches of snow from a strong frontal system passing through there during the afternoon and evening. Today Texas is under rainy weather at Houston and possibly some locally severe showers and thunderstorms in Dallas-Fort Worth, so expect some delays going into Texas today.

West Coast well. La has had the problems, of course, with the fires, the wildfires because of the low-pressure system. That low is now working its way over central Mexico, central northern Mexico and over the state of New Mexico, so that's going to cause the winds to die down a bit, but the fires have reached through the Palisades right to the ocean and elsewhere. It seems like the fires are starting to get a little bit under control as high pressure starts to build into the Pacific Northwest. So no problems up in the Portland or Seattle area. Good weather in those places. I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. I hope you have a great day today. Talk to.
