Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletieri and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Friday. It is the 10th day of the month of January, the third of the way through the month, and expect for the first day of January where temperatures were almost 7 or 8 degrees above normal. The rest of the time so far it's been well below normal and now we're just tipping the scales a little bit below normal. At this point it looks like our temperature trends will be at or below normal for the next 10 days. Now we do see a few warm-ups. However, it does look like a little bit of action coming in, especially as we head into this weekend. If you're traveling, looks like some delays into the Atlanta area today. It's because there's going to be some ice and some rain, especially in the afternoon evening, and things will most likely slow down very, very quickly as that storm starts to move out of east Texas and into northern sections of Alabama, mississippi, georgia and then into the Carolinas. There will be some icy weather in north and south Carolina as well. So there will be some delays into Atlanta, also into Charlotte, looking at the possibility of ice and snow there as well. That's going to close things down or slow them down to extremely slow as that storm continues to intensify as it moves close to the eastern seaboard. Central and South Florida should be good. New York area for the daytime on Friday and Friday evening should be no problem. As a matter of fact it's going to be a lot nicer or easier to get into Newark, laguardia, jfk because of less wind, but clouds will be on the increase. It looks like a little period of some light snow during the morning hours on Saturday. There the Boston area does look dry, so no problems. No problems up to Chicago, minneapolis, st Paul, also looking at fair but cold weather, dallas, fort Worth and Houston all dry, dry weather. On the west coast the sand and winds have broken down because now it's high pressure over southern Nevada and that means the wind flows are going to start becoming a little bit more north by northwest. And with that in mind, of course, the drier conditions with the sand and wind now being replaced by a little bit more moisture and less wind speed and less wind speed the fires are going to be at least able to get contained or at least to be damaged will sure be a little bit less than it has been, because those strong winds driving all the debris and all the cinders of fire and smoke into other places, causing the fires to reignite. Without that, it's basically a situation where our firefighters can take care of it in quick order. Well, it's a very large job, though.

Because of all the wildfires that were in central and southern California during the last several days, up in Pacific Northwest, up in Portland and also in Seattle, looks like the weather's getting better. It looks like lots of snow. If you want snow, you've got to go to Idaho and western sections of Montana, north and western Wyoming and even into North Dakota. Heavy amounts of snow are expected in those places as the next wave of storms starts to move into the nation's midsection. I'm your moderator, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Looks like fair weather for the northeast, but a little pattern of snow in the morning hours on Saturday giving way to clearing. It's sunny and a little bit warmer for Sunday and Monday in the northeast. I'm Steve Pelletieri. Have yourself a great day. Talk to you first thing on Saturday. Take care.
