Weather Insights with Steve Pellettiere: Navigating the Week's Cold Fronts and High-Pressure Systems
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpondcom on your Tuesday. It is the 14th day of January 2025 and a cold front has moved through the northeast in cold weather and high pressures, now building down across Minnesota, extending down across the central Mississippi River Valley and may make it a little bit further south, although a stationary front is developing from north Texas right in through Tennessee and then through the Carolinas. In the meantime, that high pressure cell is going to continue to drift off towards the east and northeast over the next several days. So it does look dry but cold, across the northeast, from DC up to the Boston area. Scattered snow showers from Lake Effect are going to be a problem across much of the Great Lakes, including Lake Erie and Ontario, and that's causing quite a bit of havoc as far as heavy snows in the eastern shores of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, and also across the central Great Lakes as well. In the meantime, an area of low pressure is expected to form over the southern states and advance towards the northeast. Looks like it will bring rain to the mid-Atlantic and northeast towards the end of the week, with a high pressure cell that's across right now the central and southern portions of the states, right across the Gulf of Mexico and into northern Florida and with high pressure building down out of Minnesota into the central plain states as a main feature, causing the weather to be dry but cold, colder than normal over the next several days. If you're flying on this Tuesday commercially across the northeast, there'll be some delays in the New York area because of gusty winds, also the possibility of some snow showers up around the Boston area and even the possibility of some snow flurries in DC and Baltimore as well. It'll be dry across Charlotte and dry into Atlanta and central and southern Florida as well.
Speaker 0:Most of Texas will be under dry weather, except for from down around Court Compass, christy and Brownsville and up towards San Antonio. But we do see dry conditions at Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth and Amarillo. Out to the west coast, still a dry situation there, Hopefully not seeing too strong, with a wind setting up across southern and southern portions of California In the meantime, high pressures across the central and northern Rockies. That's going to keep it dry in the Pacific Northwest as well. I'm your manager, steve Pelletetier, and I am the weatherman. Look forward to some dry conditions in the DC to Boston area over the next several days, but it's going to be on the cold side. Maybe some rain and milder conditions this upcoming weekend. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Wednesday. Take care.
