Weekend Weather: Rain Relief for California and Snow Surprises for the Rockies
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Saturday. It is the 25th day of January already 2025, and there's finally some rain in central and southern California. Taking a look at the weather charts for today and for this evening, we see a series of low-pressure systems that are working their way across from just north of San Francisco all the way down to San Diego, and it looks like some rainy weather, some much-needed rainy weather, for the Los Angeles area and Ventura County, los Angeles County as well, and it's also causing some snow up in the Sierra Nevadas, and that's good news because it brings lots of moisture from that aqueduct that comes on down from the Sierra Nevada into LA. So all good things happening as far as the West Coast is concerned weather-wise, and it looks like some snow across central and northern Nevada into Utah, around Salt Lake City, and also into central and northern Colorado, including Denver. So some wintry weather out in the West during the latter portion of today and on Sunday, in the meantime, in the east looks like a little bit of milding, and on Sunday, in the meantime, in the east looks like a little bit of milding, a very cold flow that we've had since that storm last Sunday has continued to start to break down. At this point We'll see temperatures going into the 30s during the daytime on Saturday and also close to 40 on Sunday and Monday, with a little bit of cloud cover. There is a frontal system approaching from the Great Lakes and that will be arriving late Sunday, but basically dry, no major outbreak of cold air behind it. So our forecast for the northeast corridor calling for sunny weather, then an increase in clouds on Saturday, with high temperatures ranging from about 30 to 35. At night it will be partly to mostly cloudy, nighttime low temperatures ranging back into the mid to upper 20s. Could be some rain or snow showers on Sunday, otherwise just mostly cloudy. Highs will range to near 40. Back to a clearing trend on Monday and Tuesday partly sunny and temperatures generally ranging in the 30s to near 40, which is normal for this time of year.
Speaker 1:If you're flying on to Saturday, looks like good weather from Newark, new York all the way down to central and south Florida and also westward into the Chicago area and Minneapolis St Paul. We do see just a little bit of turbulence into Chicago, but generally dry conditions there. Also dry out to Seattle and Portland but looks like that rainy weather much needed rainy weather in LA and San Francisco. We'll slow things down out on the west coast Weather-wise. We'll take the rain and the delays going into those areas because we do need the rain. In central and southern California it looks like it's coming Nice weather across the northeast and a gradual warming flow as we head into the last few days of this month of January. Next update coming our way on Sunday morning. Have yourself a wonderful Saturday. Talk to you soon, take care.
