Navigating February's Weather: From Groundhog Predictions to Coast-to-Coast Climate Surprises
Hi, this is Media Bounder Steve Pelletier and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on this Monday. It's the third day of February 2025. And well, groundhog's Day came and went and Poxitone Phil out there in Pennsylvania Gobblers whatever the heck actually saw his shadow which means we have six more weeks of winter. But that was in the cards already. I was looking at my calendar and it said that spring doesn't start until sometime in March, around March 21st or 2nd or something like that. Either way, it looks like we've got some pretty wild weather coming up for this month of February. After a little dusting or coating of snow on Sunday evening, we're now looking at mild conditions all the way up near 50 from DC up to New York City, the Boston area just partly cloudy in the middle 40s and, and it looks like generally a pretty good day for today. Highs will range again in the 40s, generally near 50 degrees in some of the warmer spots. At night, fair Nighttime, low temperatures in the middle 30s. Tuesday is looking pretty good Good amount of sunshine, but temperatures closer to normal for this time of year. That means 40 to 45. Now on Wednesday, another system arriving from the west starts out at some snow That'll be Wednesday night, changes over to some rain during the daytime on Thursday, or some mixed precipitation early then over to some rain before ending. Then we get into a clearing trend for Friday of this week.
Speaker 0:If you are traveling on this Monday, much of the nation looks like we're going to have some pretty good weather. It'll be decent, of course, in New York and up in the Boston area. It looks like fair weather down at Charlotte and Atlanta and also down in Central and South Florida and out in Texas. Fair weather in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Funnel systems already gone through the Chicago area. They're on to fair skies but some colder conditions moving in there and fair and cold also up in Minneapolis-St Paul.
Speaker 0:It's out in the West Coast from San Francisco northward all the way up to Portland and Seattle. Those big storms are moving in from the Pacific Northwest causing quite a bit of rain and it's also causing quite a bit of snow across sections of Idaho, montana and the Dakotas. But across Central and Southern California it looks like the rain showers probably ending up just north of Ventura County and it looks like LA and San Diego clouds, but dry, maybe some rain during the overnight Monday into Tuesday. So pretty good weather traveling for this week on this Monday. For today, though, it looks like fair skies and temperatures in the 40s to near 50 degrees from DC up to the Boston area and the New York corridor. I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Tuesday. Take care.
