Navigating the Week's Weather Rollercoaster with Meteorologist Steve Pellettiere

Stephen Pellettiere
Speaker 1:

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Tuesday. It is the fourth day of the month of February already and look at the weather charts Shows that dry weather in the east and some colder weather moving in for at least a day or two In the west, big areas of low pressure working into the Pacific Northwest. Rainy conditions all the way through the state of California right down to San Diego. That will be arriving during the latter portion of today and tonight. It looks like that's going to translate to some rain and snow across Nevada and snow in the mountains of eastern Washington and Oregon and all across central and northern Idaho, the western mountains of Montana and even sections of northwestern Wyoming. The high-pressure cell that's across four corners will be replaced by this area of low pressure that will gather strength across the southern states and then move towards the northeast for later on this week. In the meantime, if you're flying on this Tuesday, it looks like we've got some pretty good weather in the New York, newark and Boston area and decent conditions in Cleveland and Chicago and Minneapolis, st Paul, although it will be cold, also looking at fair conditions, with a few showers possible later in the day in Atlanta With a little frontal system moving through there, central and South Florida also looking dry, some fog along the Gulf Coast of Texas at Houston and Galveston and up towards the central and northern portion of the state, from Dallas northward all the way up into Oklahoma City. We're looking at generally fair conditions, although some rainy conditions are across central and eastern northeastern Oklahoma with a developing low pressure system that will eventually arrive in the northeast. In the meantime, as I mentioned, looks like rainy weather from San Diego northward right up through Los Angeles County and all the way all the way up towards the central northern portion of the state, from San Francisco right up to the border of Oregon and all the way up to Washington State and Seattle and Portland, all with rainy conditions and snowy conditions just off to the east as that big area of low pressure moves in from the Pacific Northwest. There's the forecast for the northeast corridor.

Speaker 1:

It looks like a mostly sunny Tuesday as our temperatures range in the mid to upper 40s, near 50 in DC, near 40 up in the Boston area, 45 in New York City, increasing clouds on Tuesday night down to 23, and Wednesday it'll be mostly cloudy Mid-30s that high pressure that's moving down out of the Great Lakes. Well, it's going to be arriving in the east. It's going to be arriving in the east, but that means a combination of a storm arriving from the southwest. That means some snow likely to develop overnight Wednesday into Thursday and then mixing with and changing over to some freezing rain, with nighttime lows of around 29. And it does look like rainy weather mixed with some snow and sleet in the early going on Thursday, then rain in the afternoons. High temperatures go all the way up to the mid to upper 40s. So New York City, boston and even down in the DC area, you are going to have either ice or rain from this system. That will be on Thursday. There's a lot of warmth moving up along the eastern seaboard, but we'll start off with snow and ice, then over to some rain. Friday's weather is looking mostly sunny 43, and then back to another chance of snow by later Saturday. Rain and snow for Saturday night and rain on Sunday.
