Navigating This Week's Dramatic Weather: Snow, Ice, and Travel Disruptions from the Midwest to the East Coast
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom. On your Tuesday, 11th day of the month of February 2025, and we've got more wintry weather across the nation's midsection right to the eastern seaboard. Washington DC could get a little snow sleet and some freezing rain from the first storm and from secondary storm that's going to be forming a little bit later on this week. Secondary storm that's going to be forming a little bit later on this week. But for your Tuesday it looks like we're going to have just cloudy conditions in New York City, some light snow and flurries developing down in Philadelphia, south to Baltimore and DC. That light snow starting around the mid to later afternoon hours. The maximum from this storm most likely will be across central and northern Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley and also central and northern portions of West Virginia, southern Pennsylvania. We could see between four and eight inches of snowfall in some of those places. Further to the south it's an icy situation from Roanoke all the way down into the Charlotte area and it looks like just rainy conditions along the Outer Banks. Also to the coast of North and South Carolina. Looks like some rainy weather in Atlanta and also some showers just off the Florida Peninsula, but mostly just offshore. Another area of snow is working its way out of South Dakota, nebraska and Kansas. That'll be advancing towards the east.
Speaker 0:Another low pressure will intensify along the Gulf Coast and spin off towards the northeast. That's due for Wednesday night and Thursday. In the northeast West Coast is basically dry at this point. High pressure moving in but we do see low pressure further offshore that will be arriving the Pacific Northwest sometime on Wednesday of this week. So if you're flying, expect some delays into Atlanta and to Charlotte, especially Charlotte, because of the icy conditions. Just IFR conditions in Atlanta, rainy conditions in Houston and also Dallas-Fort Worth.
Speaker 0:Chicago not too bad, just partly cloudy and maybe some snow showers. But temperatures there are expected to remain on the cold side, 30 to 35. Looks like fair skies in Southern California and San Diego, but some clouds and fog early and then some afternoon sun in Los Angeles. Looks like the possibility of some showers and fog moving into San Francisco and dry conditions in the Pacific Northwest. I'm meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman for the Northeast Corridor. A possibility of maybe one to three inches of snowfall down in Atlantic City and DC and Baltimore. You might see better than four inches in those places, as winter storm warnings are in effect. Another storm will be affecting the area later Wednesday. We'll have details on that in tomorrow morning's report. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first.
