Weather Wonders: Forecasting the Fronts eith Meteorologist Steve Pellettiere
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into the weatherman podcom on your Friday. It's the last day of February, february 28th 2025. And a look across the nation shows some pretty good weather for today, except for the Great Lakes region, from Lake Superior all the way down to Lake Michigan, lake Huron, down to Erie and Ontario and then even to the points east, that forgotten sort of Great Lake of Lake Champlain, where there is going to be some rain and snow coming our way. For this upcoming weekend, however, it looks like for the most part the New York City area southward to DC. It's basically going to be a dry day today, but with clouds on the increase and a frontal system approaching the area during the latter portion of Friday into early Saturday, another cold front arrives during the afternoon.
Speaker 0:Seems like we're going to have two seasons for the weekend. First day of March, on Saturday, temperatures will be above normal In the 50s from DC up to the Boston area and with the possibility of some rain showers or maybe even some snow showers across New York State and central and southern New England. Some rain showers or maybe even some snow showers across New York State and central and southern New England but as we get towards Sunday, a big area of high pressure across Manitoba province of Canada, just north of the North Dakota and northwestern sections of Minnesota. That's where that high pressure is going to build southward and it will move across the region for Sunday and Monday, bringing us below normal temperatures. So above normal temperatures on the first day of March on Saturday, below normal on Sunday, and that below normal trend most likely will continue right in through early next week. However, a warm-up once again due to actually move in from the mid-Atlantic and from the central Mississippi River Valley towards the northeast by later Tuesday and Wednesday, with the possibility of a big rainstorm, but not so for today.
Speaker 0:If you are traveling from Florida northward on I-95 or 81 or 40, heading towards the northeast, we're looking at dry conditions from south Florida right up through Jacksonville, tampa, st Pete, northward, right up through Savannah and then into just offshore, just to the coastal areas of North and South Carolina, if you're going to be there, or up towards Raleigh, up near I-95, northward up to Richmond and Washington DC. Dry conditions expected today. Also dry weather out of Texas northward up through the Dakotas, although by the time you get close to Iowa and into Minnesota. That's where you're probably going to pick up some snow. It's going to be cold. Maybe you should stay in Texas for another couple of weeks If you're flying on this Friday dry conditions in Atlanta, charlotte, south Florida and Miami it looks like some windy conditions.
Speaker 0:So a bit turbulent going into Chicago and the possibility of some snow in Minneapolis-St Paul, but dry conditions in New York and up in Boston. Dry weather in Texas, los Angeles, seattle and San Francisco all looking pretty good weather-wise on your Friday Forecast. For Friday, though, again for the northeast corner, a good amount of sunshine as temperatures range into the 40s. A little bit of a cooler trend today into the 50s, with a chance of some rain and snow showers. On Saturday, snow showers, of course, closer to the Great Lakes and interior sections of northwest Pennsylvania and New York, but then back to fair and cold weather for Sunday and Monday. I'm your moderator, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on the beginning of meteorological springtime, that's March 1st, on Saturday morning. Have a great day, take care.
