The Weather Man Podcast, I talk about weather!
The Ides of March brings milder temperatures and much-needed rain to the Northeast.
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletierian. I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Thursday. It's the 13th day of March 2025, a day that's going to show us a lot of cloud cover across the mid-Atlantic and northeast. It'll set up on the weather chart shows a stationary front that goes from central Kansas right through Missouri, central and southern portions of Illinois, indiana, into southern Ohio and then down across through the Virginias and just offshore. That frontal system is going to be the leading edge of some moisture that will reform as we head into the weekend and possibly give us some heavy rain sometime by later on Sunday and Sunday night.
Speaker 1:That's around the mid-Atlantic and the northeastern region For New Jersey, pennsylvania, southeast Pennsylvania, philadelphia and up to New York City and central and northern New Jersey, where we're located. You're looking at a cloudy day today, with our high temperatures generally ranging up in the 40s to near 50. But that east wind keeps the temperatures a bit on the chilly side and moist. For tonight there'll be some clouds and overnight maybe some patchy drizzle along the coast, with nighttime low temperatures down to about the upper 30s near 40. And morning clouds on Friday give way to afternoon sun. However, there's going to be clouds moving back in again at night, but our high is 50 to 55. For Friday and Saturday it looks like drizzle, fog, maybe a few showers 62, and it warms all the way up to 70. And it looks like the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast, including much of central and southern New England, is going to get into some heavy rains by later Sunday and Sunday night Meantime across the rest of the nation.
Speaker 1:You're looking at cloudy skies and the possibility of some rain in Atlanta, but nothing much. It's not going to be major weather there, so just some minor delays in and out of the Atlanta area because of the weather. Charlotte's looking fairly good, although it is cloud cover there as well. Chicago's looking good, as does Minneapolis-St Paul and the possibility of some snow across the four-quarters region, especially across much of Utah, central northern portions of Nevada, central and southern Idaho, western sections of Montana as well, eastern Washington State and eastern Oregon, also with heavy mountain snows, and that's going to continue and then it's going to spill into central northern Texas and some rain by the time we get towards Friday.
Speaker 1:West Coast still showing some light showers in the LA area, but not much. Cloudy skies in San Francisco and then back to some more rainy weather, with another storm moving offshore and we have rainy conditions in Portland and Seattle expected. No change, no big difference there over the last several days. Recapping it looks like a good deal of cloud cover for your Thursday as we head mid-month and get to the Ides of March on Saturday, but it does look like we will get some milder conditions along with some much-needed rain in the Northeast by later on this upcoming weekend. I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletierian, I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today.
