St. Patrick's Day Storm Systems: From Sierra Nevada Snow to East Coast Clearing
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Monday. It's the 17th day of the month of March 2025, st Patrick's Day. Looking at a weather situation showing lots of green across, but heavy rains across the San Fernando Valley, san Joaquin Valley, I should say, into western sections of Nevada, eastern California, and it looks like that area of rain showing up as snow across the Sierra Nevada and into central northern Nevada. Southern portions of Idaho a mixture of some rain but of course in the mountains there's going to have lots of snow. Northwestern sections of Wyoming, western Montana heavy snow in those areas there.
Speaker 0:Elsewhere across the nation the low pressure is moving offshore. We had some heavy rain showers during the overnight. They're now moving offshore as the low pressure system continues to intensify. Just off the coast of southern New England and high pressure is now starting to build in Should give us some decent weather. There will be a slow clear from DC up to the Boston area, looks like. As a matter of fact, from about Hartford and New Haven northward into the Boston area, including Portland, all the way out to Augusta In Maine.
Speaker 0:We are expecting the possibility of some rain during the daytime on this Monday, but dry conditions gradually moving into New York, newark, laguardia and JFK, so no problems there. If you're traveling down to Atlanta, good weather there. Finally, also in the western portion of North Carolina, charlotte, you're also looking at some pretty good weather close to the border of South Carolina. Dry conditions in central and south Florida as well. Also dry in Houston, dallas-fort Worth and Amarillo.
Speaker 0:The Chicago area Warm front moving into there, so good conditions in most of Chicagoland during the afternoon and evening hours. Today it looks like fair conditions up in Minneapolis-St Paul and, as mentioned, that west coast does have rainy weather to continue. It's causing lots of snow across the mountains of the Rockies in central and northern portions of Nevada right up into Canada as those storms move in from the Pacific Northwest. High pressure moving in will give us a slow, gradual clearing as the showers move east for your Monday, from DC up to the Boston area centered around New York City and central New Jersey where we're located. Looking at a pretty good day for Tuesday with highs up to about 63. And Wednesday, also above normal temperatures continue, continue 58 to 63 with dry weather, maybe some showers, with the next cold front arriving later on Thursday of this week.
Speaker 0:I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great Monday, great St Patrick's Day. It looks like we'll have some fair weather into Tuesday and Wednesday as well in the northeast. Not too bad traveling central and eastern portion of the nation next couple of days. I'll talk to you first thing tomorrow. Have a good one.
