Weekend Forecast: Warm Bermuda High Gives Way to Frontal Systems

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletieri and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Saturdays, the 29th day of the month of March 2025. And it does look like a weather situation that's going to be quite mild for today, especially across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, all associated with a big area of high pressure that's anchored off the eastern seaboard, what we used to call a Bermuda high effect. It's a southwesterly flow and probably only going to last about a day or two. We do have a series of frontal systems expected to move down across the mid-Atlantic and northeast states over the next several days, but until we do get into that, our weather situation will be sunny and very warm today, with our temperatures ranging in the 70s north and east to about 80 to 85 in DC, baltimore and Philadelphia. Also, new York City has a chance up to around 81 or 82 degrees during the daytime today. Now some showers likely tonight. That's associated with a weather front, a warm front, moving back in. Actually, the front went through yesterday and became stationary to the north. Now moving back down into that puts us into a little bit more of an east flow on Sunday, keeping us in clouds and a little bit of cooler temperatures, but it looks like as we get back into Monday that warm front moves back north so temperatures will go into the 70s, but still with a chance of some showers. Strong cool front arrives sometime during the daytime on late Monday or early Tuesday and that should set the stage for some fair and cooler conditions for early April.

But in the meantime, if you are flying on this Saturday, look for generally fair conditions at Charlotte, some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Later afternoon in Atlanta, some slight delays there and occasional showers and thunderstorms. Central and South Florida, just some fog at Houston giving way to some clearing and cloudy conditions at Dallas-Fort Worth, also with a chance of some very warm weather across much of Central and East Texas during the daytime. Today it looks like we are going to have fair conditions in San Diego, la and San Francisco as well and a little bit of a dry break up in Portland and also in Seattle, although there is a chance of some showers late in the day on Saturday and Saturday night. But we're looking at all the weather for today. It's snow across central and northern Montana, north Dakota also having snow, some sections of central and northern Minnesota with some ice around Minneapolis-St Paul, so that could be a problem getting in and out of there. There could be some significant delays in Minneapolis-St Paul because of the expected wintry weather, and Chicago also with overcast conditions and rain, but it's very mild because they're going to be south of the warm front and that rainy conditions will continue right in through Sunday.
