Weekend Weather Outlook

Hi, this is video writer Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Saturday. It is the 24th day in the month of May, and this month continues to go very quickly. We're into the holiday weekend, memorial Day, holiday weekend, the start of summertime traditionally across the area, and as we get closer and closer to that first day of June, that's the start of what we call meteorological summer, and that means that the sun is rising high in the skies, rising early, it's setting late, getting the most amount of sunshine that lasts right up through astronomical first day of summer, which is around the 21st of June, and then through the summer months of July and August. Our weather situation for today, though, is looking pretty good. We still have that upper-level low-pressure system located just over northern Maine and over the Canadian Maritimes and will continue to give us a northwesterly flow of some afternoon clouds, but a decent round of good weather. Temperatures today will range generally in the mid to upper 60s, but there's also the possibility of a passing sprinkle or a shower, and, from DC up to the Boston area, looking at generally cloudy conditions for the afternoon hours, giving way to clearing at night. Then, on Sunday, it's looking very nice, probably the best day of the weekend, one of the two. We are looking at nice weather on Memorial Day, but we're watching a storm passing to our south. So on Sunday look for mostly sunny skies and temperatures ranging close to 70. At night it'll be fair back into the 40s and lower 50s and temperatures generally between 70 and 75, with sunshine, then an increase in clouds later in the day. On Memorial Day Monday, winter highs in the lower 70s. Looks like some showers for later Tuesday, wednesday and Thursday of this week courtesy of another area of low pressure that's going to keep our weather situation looking a little bit more like April instead of the middle to the end of the month of May, and that'll be lasting right around the midweek period as we get into the last few days of this month of May and next weekend looks like high pressure will start to build in. Hopefully we'll get into some decent weather last day of May, next Saturday and first day of June next Sunday as well.

If you're traveling today, it looks like we still have a few areas of rain and showers up in the Boston area, but New York generally on north, partially flowing, decent conditions could be an afternoon shower in those places too. Dc's looking good, as does Baltimore. Chicago dry, also dry in Minneapolis-St Paul Looks like some rain in Atlanta and some showers. Later afternoon and early evening in Charlotte Also showers and thunderstorms. Central and south portions of Florida, coastal Texas looking good at Houston and also down at Corpus Christi. Northward up to Dallas, some heavy thunderstorms are possible on Sunday. West Coast is still looking dry, from San Diego all the way up to LA, san Francisco, portland and Seattle. Maybe some showers moving in later Sunday in the Pacific Northwest. I'm meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Sunday.
