Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletieri and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into weathermanpodcom. On this Sunday. It's the first day of June 2025. And boy, we had a lot of rain around the eastern seaboard yesterday, especially during the overnight hours Friday into Saturday. In some places there was over two to four inches of rainfall. And that brings the total amount of rain for the month of May from DC up to the Boston area above normal by about 2 to 4 inches, up to as much as 7 inches. Haven't had that much rain during the month of May since about maybe 21, 22. And we've also had times in the past where we've had heavy amounts of rainfall the all-time greatest amount back in 1978, the month of May then Almost 10 inches of rain in many places across the eastern seaboard. But now that's all behind us. It's the first day of June. What is so rare as a day in June?

Well, it's not going to be that great today. We are starting off with clear skies but cool conditions. But as the day wears on we'll have some fair weather. Clouds develop during the afternoon. High pressure building in from the Tennessee and the Ohio valleysalleys means some pretty nice weather for us for today, but temperatures will only range in the 60s. North there's still going to be some showers across central and northern New York State, but also in the south we'll have fair skies but with cool temperatures near 70 degrees. Fair weather. Clouds during the afternoon will make it overcast on your Sunday, but it looks like skies will clear tonight and again another cool overnight period. Back to some great weather for Monday, tuesday, wednesday and even Thursday and magically we're going to be into summertime. Temperatures will get close to 90 in many cities like Baltimore, philadelphia, new York City Sometime by later Wednesday, thursday and Friday of this week.

Maybe a frontal system moving through towards the end of the week and that could bring in a more normal weather pattern. But up until then, starting off fair and cool, ending up very mild and dry right up through the end of this first week in the month of June. If you're flying today. Well, it looks like Atlanta will be pretty good. No problems weather-wise in Charlotte, although there will be a stationary front there. There will be some cloud cover but no major weather and it looks like scattered showers and thunderstorms central and south Florida, so that could slow things down a little bit there. Fair skies in New York City, also fair up in the Boston area, but windy, so that'll slow things down by about an hour or two if you're going in and out of those places.

Fair skies in Chicago, some clouds and fog in Minneapolis. St Paul, maybe a shower or two. Also some showers in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Dry weather, however, in central and southern California. Upper-level low-pressure systems swinging across San Francisco. That'll keep some clouds in there Also. Variably cloudy conditions for Portland and Seattle, with temperatures a little bit below normal for this time of year, but no major problems weather-wise flying in and out of the West Coast for today or for tomorrow as well. I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletier. Problems weather-wise flying in and out of the West Coast for today or for tomorrow as well. I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletier, and I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today, enjoy this first day of June and we'll talk to you first thing on Monday. Take care.
