Summer Heat Wave Hits the Northeast
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Palatieri and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Thursday. It's the fifth day of the month of June already and well, we're looking at some very warm weather across the Northeast. Many places yesterday Richmond all the way up to DC, west Indelis all the way up to Philly, new York and even up in the Boston area. Temperatures are well above normal, touching into the 90s in Philly and New York and down in DC and Baltimore, but in the upper 80s up in the Boston area. But it looks like this high pressure is going to give us another warm day today with temperatures once again in the upper 80s, low to mid 90s, with very warm conditions for this one more day. Frontal system working its way out of the Great Lakes, causing some heavy thunderstorms across the central Mississippi River Valley, will eventually arrive in the east sometime during later Friday and Saturday Once it moves offshore Saturday afternoon, saturday evening, we get into a clearing trend Sunday and Monday of next week with some cooler temperatures. So check your local forecast. But we are looking at temperatures generally in the upper 70s on Sunday, near 80 degrees on Monday with dry weather. Upper 70s on Sunday, near 80 degrees on Monday with dry weather, but on Saturday possibility of some heavy thunderstorms and maybe some locally severe storms, with the frontal system slowly charging on through. Also, looking at an area of possible tropical development just off the coast of northern Florida, coastal Georgia and South Carolina, an area of low pressure is probably going to meander in that position over the next several days, probably going to meander in that position over the next several days, and we'll update you over the next several days and through the weekend of its progress, whether or not it does become a tropical depression.
Speaker 0:The arcane season starts on June 1st right up to November 30th and well, our weather situation is starting to get a little bit more summer-like each and every day the sun getting higher, rising earlier, setting later, very close, getting very close to the beginning of astronomical summer. Meteorological summertime starts on the 1st of June and ever since it started things have been warming up quite nicely. If you're flying today, it looks like some scattered showers in Atlanta, nothing major. Also some scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm or two in Charlotte. Dry in DC, dry in Philly, new York, and also up in the Boston area. Thunderstorms in Cleveland, but it looks like the thunderstorms will clear out of the Chicago area and out west we're looking at some morning fog, some midday sun and a few isolated sprinkles and showers. In Southern California, generally fair conditions after morning clouds and fog in San Francisco, also dry in Portland and Seattle. On your Thursday I'm your moderator, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing tomorrow. Take care.
