Weather Alert: June's Flip Side
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Wednesday, 18th day of the month of June. On the other side, the flip side of the month of June, so far in many places the temperatures have been cooler than normal Cooler by about a degree or two. In some places it's near normal. But those are just the places where they may have had some warmer spots or some breaks in uncertain days. But basically our rainfall amounts are above normal. Our temperatures are a little bit below normal so far, but that's going to be changing because we do see some heat and humidity. It's all across the nation. Midsection is going to be gradually moving to the eastern seaboard over the next several days. So our forecast for today is calling for early clouds to give way to some midday sun and the possibility of some late day and evening thunderstorms from DC to the Boston area, all associated with first a little frontal system and low pressure that's currently giving quite a bit of rainfall across the southern Great Lakes. That will be moving eastward and give us those downpours, especially for tonight. But we might have a little bit of midday sun helping those temperatures in the mid-80s today. Tomorrow we'll start off with some clouds We'll give way to some midday hazy sun and temperatures going up into the upper 80s and lower 90s. The thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening from Richmond up to New York to Boston will probably be associated with a strong cool front or at least a high-pressure center moving it behind that frontal system. Not really a cool front, but it's going to get warmer as the frontal system moves through. But it does look like drier conditions for Friday. Friday's highs will range into the 80s. No mention of rain. No mention of rain expected for Saturday or Sunday or even Monday of next week and in some places early next week temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s. So heat waves starting, I think, this weekend, on Saturday, sunday, monday and possibly even Tuesday of next week before the next frontal system arrives.
Speaker 0:If you are traveling on this Wednesday, we do see the possibility of some more rainy weather. It's been raining down in Atlanta for the last couple of days. Looks like they'll have the possibility of more showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon hours on this Wednesday. So Atlanta, maybe some slight delays, moderate delays in Newark, laguardia, jfk because of the weather situation up in the Boston area A lot of clouds, minimal delays expected there. In Chicago it looks like between a half hour to an hour and a half, maybe two hour delays because of some heavy weather moving in during the afternoon hours. From there all the way up to Milwaukee Looks dry.
Speaker 0:Up in Minneapolis, st Paul, houston, some showers, south Florida showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Midday we'll have some hazy sun temperatures going into the lower 90s, typical weather for South Florida this time of year. Dallas-fort Worth is looking dry as well. West Coast also dry. San Diego L and San Francisco, rainy weather in Portland and in Seattle. Once again on your Wednesday. I'm your manager, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. You know it's going to be a little bit clouds to start. We'll give way to some sun. The next several days is going to be drier and drier and it's going to be warmer and warmer and could see temperatures burn the daytime on Monday in some places up.
