Heat Wave Alert
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Saturday, fifth day of the month of July 2025. And after beautiful weather across the mid-Atlantic and northeast states on the 4th of July, we've got well, the high pressure cell just offshore and what it's going to do is bring in a stronger southwesterly flow of heat and humidity, temperatures today getting up closer to 90 in New York City, about 93 or 95 degrees expected for the city and Philadelphia, probably during the daytime on Sunday and about the same for Monday and Tuesday of this upcoming weekend, with the added possibility of some scattered showers and thunderstorms. So it's going to be fair and dry, but it does look like an increasing risk of some thunderstorms Monday, tuesday and Wednesday of this upcoming week in the northeast corridor, also watching the development of the possible tropical system just off the coast of Georgia and the north coast of Florida. If in fact, it does become a tropical storm or actually a hurricane, but that's probably just a tropical storm It'll be called Chantel. We had some earlier disturbances called Andrea and then Barry, then Chantel. We had some earlier disturbances called Andrea and then Barry, then Chantel will be the next one Dexter, aaron, ferdinand, gabriel and Humberto. Let's take it up to the ages. Hopefully we won't get any farther than that. But you never know and we'll have more updated names as we continue through the upcoming hurricane season. But if something does form off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina, it'll be called Chantel, probably will meander down there, maybe even move inland and cause some rains across Georgia, north and South Carolina and North Florida as well.
Speaker 0:But the weather situation for the Northeast Carter is going to be fair and dry for your Saturday up to near 90, 90 to 95 on Sunday with hazy sunshine.
