Heat Wave Coming: Enjoy the Pleasant Start to Your Week
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Monday. It's the 21st day of the month of July 2025 and, as we indicated yesterday, temperatures are averaging about two degrees above normal, some places well above normal precip wise, because of the heavy rains that we had across the northeast on the 14th it didn't happen everywhere we're also seeing lots of rainfall today across the eastern section of Kentucky, tennessee, western north and south Carolina, southern West Virginia and western state of Virginia, also rainy conditions across the northwestern corner of Montana, northern Idaho, eastern sections of Washington and Oregon, also around four corners, and normal monsoons are occurring there. In the northeast big area, high pressure is building southward from the Great Lakes. That's going to give us some pretty good weather for New York, philadelphia, wilmington and even down at DC, at least right up through Wednesday. Then the frontal system returns as a warm front and by the end of the week we'll have temperatures in many of the major cities up to near 100 degrees, with heat advisories for later Friday, possibly even Saturday and Sunday, although some scattered showers and thunderstorms will start to take over as the high break. Maybe another area of high pressure building south from central Canada for early next week.
Speaker 0:But this week starts off excellent. Today is going to be just a beautiful day. Highs ranging between 80 and 85. Dew points are in the 60s. Well, dew points means that with temperatures in the 60s and temperatures in the 80s you usually have very comfortable weather. Your relative humidity during the time of high temperatures about 35-40%, as opposed to relative humidities being around 55-60% when you have 90 degrees and dew points in the 70s, especially up to 74-75 degrees, that's very uncomfortable. Not going to have that today or tomorrow. It'll start to creep up by Wednesday and by the end of this week dew points will be back into the 70s and hazy, hot and humid weather will return. So look forward to some great weather today and tomorrow. Temperatures in the lower to mid-80s, mid to upper 80s on Wednesday, thursday and Friday. In the upper 80s, lower 90s on Thursday to near 100 degrees in many spots on Friday of this week.
Speaker 0:If you're flying today looks like great weather in the northeast, of course, philadelphia, new York and LaGuardia, jfk all looking good, as does Boston. Good weather in Chicago, although very smoky conditions across some sections around Minnesota because of Canadian wildfires, along with cloud cover and a very stable atmosphere. Looks like some rain in Minneapolis, st Paul, moving in during the afternoon and early evening hours. Today, dry and hot in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Rain showers across the four corners, arizona, new Mexico, utah and western sections of Colorado. Looks dry in San Diego and Los Angeles. Smoky in San Francisco and Sacramento, with some showers moving in with the frontal system arriving. The showers will be ending in Portland and Seattle. It looks like some improving weather by the time we get to Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm Indy Rall, justine Feliteri and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Tuesday. Enjoy the weather. It's going to be great today and tomorrow. Heat's up at the end of the week. See you soon.
