Heat Wave on Horizon: Northeast Forecast for July 22-26

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Tuesday. It is the 22nd day of the month of July, a month that's been showing establishes a little bit above normal across the northeast, but we've had some beautiful weather yesterday, on Monday, also today, tuesday and Wednesday not too bad, and it's all courtesy of a big area high pressure currently centered across Lake Ontario, northern New York State, extending just off to the coast of New England. Now this high pressure satellite is going to continue to drift east-southeastward and provide much of the northeast with fairer conditions right through Thursday. But by the time we get to Thursday high pressure will reestablish a foothold across the eastern seaboard and a Bermuda high effect and that will set us into some much warmer and increasingly more humid conditions and temperatures that will be downright hot by later on Friday. Then on the weekend we do have a series of frontal systems that will be arriving, should break the heat not so too much on Saturday but on Sunday, monday and Tuesday of next week back to at least closer to normal conditions after a little heat wave commencing Thursday, lasting at least through Saturday of this weekend. For the Northeast Corridor Weather again for today temperatures of about 80 to 85, nighttime lows near 65 to 70, back into the mid-80s tomorrow, in the lower 90s. On Thursday 95 to 100. And many communities across the Northeast expected for this Friday.

If you're flying today, it looks like some rainy weather across Atlanta and some afternoon thunderstorms in Charlotte, so some delays there. Central and South Florida also under showers and thunderstorms for the day, as an area of low pressure is just off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina, supplying lots of moisture for the eastern Gulf Coast and it looks like high pressure is building across and through Houston and Dallas. Decent conditions in those places but, as mentioned also on the hot side it's going to be fair skies in Chicago and then clouding up for the Green Bay area. The Oscars air show today right up through Thursday and it looks like fair conditions for today, but it looks like some rainy weather moving in for tonight and for tomorrow. But eventually the low pressure will move to the east and we'll probably get into some better weather by later on this week. Minneapolis, st Paul under overcast and rainy conditions for this afternoon and on the west coast dry in San Diego, los Angeles and San Francisco. Also continue dry in Portland and Seattle, with rain continuing across northern Idaho and western portions of Montana during the afternoon and into tomorrow.
