Heat Wave Hits the Eastern Seaboard: Your Complete Weekend Forecast
Hi, this has been your roger, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day. Today, on this Friday, it is the 25th day of the month of July 2025 and excessive heat warnings are up all around the eastern seaboard. North of the Carolinas there's a lot of cloud cover and even some showers, keeping the temperatures down just a bit from Raleigh south through around Charleston, south Carolina, and then even into northern Florida, charleston, south Carolina, and then even into northern Florida and much of the Gulf Coast under the possibility of some showers and thunderstorms, with unsettled weather out of the Gulf possibly could develop into some tropical situations over the next several days. But over the northeast it's excessive heat warnings in effect. For the area, temperatures will range in the 90s to the lower 100s. Heat index values, which are a combination of the temperature and humidity, will be rising up to about 105. So it's a tough day today. Of course. Stay out of the sun, don't exert yourself during the afternoon and seek air conditioning and drink plenty of water. Stay away from alcohol, it just won't make you worse. Just water and some fruit juices, that's good. Loose-fitting clothing of light color and material also best to make it through this heat today as we head towards tomorrow there's going to be some scattered late-day and evening thunderstorms. Weather front working its way eastward from the Great Lakes will be arriving and that could set us up with some showers and thunderstorms late-day and evening but also keep us a little bit of extra cloud cover. So the temperatures will most likely be in the lower 90s on Saturday but generally only in the 80s from DC up to the Boston area and that will be on Sunday. But a better chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially later day and evening Into early next week. Looks like high pressure starts to build in from the northwest so temperatures will be back just a bit. Not too bad for Monday and Tuesday 80s to near 90, possibly warming up again in the middle portion of this upcoming week, with the next frontal system due to arrive either Thursday or Friday.
Speaker 0:If you're flying today still looks like generally fair conditions in the northeast but of course because of the excessive heat that could cause some delays. In Newark, laguardia and JFK Up in the Boston area no problems weather-wise. There Looks pretty good Dry conditions for the most part in Richmond and up in DC. However, as you go down to Raleigh and out towards Charlotte there could be afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms possible also in Atlanta, so some slight delays there. That persistent problem of showers and thunderstorms continues over central and south Florida and also along the Gulf Coast. Some thunderstorms in a later afternoon, but most of the time dry and hot in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, chicago starting to improve just a bit. Still the possibility of some thunderstorms as the front gradually nudges eastward. Dry in Minneapolis, out on the west coast, dry also LA, san Francisco and some showers in the Pacific Northwest. I'm Indy, roger Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman.
