Tracking Extreme Heat and Summer Thunderstorms Across America
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom on your Tuesday. It is the 29th day of the month of July, a month that's shown some places across the Northeast quite a bit of rainfall but exceptional amounts of heat and humidity, and we're actually going today, on Monday we'll have it on Tuesday and Wednesday May ahead on Monday will happen on Tuesday and Wednesday Some very extreme heat, so that the extreme heat warnings are in effect for much of the mid-Atlantic and northeast. Across the southeast there are showers and thunderstorms. It looks like mostly rainy conditions during the afternoon. East Tennessee, kentucky, all the way down into western North Carolina, all of South Carolina, georgia and through the Florida Panhandle and also into Alabama, mississippi and southern Louisiana. It does look generally dry from Houston up to Dallas, but it looks like some showers and thunderstorms for Chicago.
Speaker 1:Drying weather in Minneapolis, st Paul, rainy conditions in central and eastern sections of Montana and Wyoming all the way down to Colorado and western sections of New Mexico, around four quarters. It's their monsoon season and it looks like they are going to continue with the rains there over the next couple of days. Dry weather though in LA and San Francisco also the possibility of some showers in Portland, but mostly cloudy conditions with some sunshine in Seattle. A frontal system arriving during the daytime on Wednesday could bring some more rain to them, but the big story, of course, being the heat and humidity across the northeast. Excessive heat warnings will remain in effect Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we have a frontal system approaching from the northwest that's currently moving out of central and southern Canada. We'll be arriving in the east with some thunderstorms on Thursday. Temperatures back up to only near 80 to 85 on Friday, saturday and Sunday, as we welcome in the new month of August.
Speaker 1:So again, if you're traveling today, it looks like some showers and thunderstorms in Atlanta and Charlotte, also lighter showers across Miami and Fort Lauderdale, but most of the time it's just going to be typical South Florida weather for today 90s daytime, late day and evening thunderstorms. Dry in Houston, dallas, as mentioned, thunderstorms in Chicago. Dry weather for much of the West Coast Expected on Tuesday. I'm Eddie Modrowski, fellow tour guide. I'm the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Wednesday. See you then.
