Sweaty July Says Goodbye, Hello August Sunshine!
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletieri and I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom On your Thursday. It is the last day, the 31st day of the month of July 2025, and the last few days of heat wave continues across the northeast, as a matter of fact, many places across the nation. The temperatures are well above normal on this month of July, probably going to see the average temperatures around the New York City area and Philadelphia going about 4 degrees above normal. Rainfall amounts also going to vary. There were some places that had tremendous amounts of rain during this month of July, but it looks like for the most part, above normal to well above normal rainfall-wise, all because of thunderstorms, and another round of some heavier thunderstorms are a possibility during the daytime today.
Speaker 1:The setup on the weather chart shows a stationary front that goes from central Idaho all the way down into north Texas, then, on an angle from right, around Amarillo, north and eastward on a gradual slope, taking it right across the central Mississippi River Valley, then in through Pennsylvania, new Jersey and through southern New England. High pressure is building southward out of the Great Lakes, out of central Canada, that's eventually going to be moving towards the eastern seaboard, but it'll probably take a couple of days. Fourth day area of low pressure is going to form along that frontal system that I mentioned and it's going to bring some rainy weather towards the north and east. So it looks like hazy and humid weather, but not as hot because of the extra clouds and the possibility of some heavy thunderstorms associated with those series of low-pressure systems moving on through Especially the front drifts further south, becomes stationary across the Carolinas, keeping them in clouds and the possibility of some showers. But high pressure currently building across the western Great Lakes Move eastward and give the northeast some excellent weather for the first few days of the new month of August, commencing Friday.
Speaker 1:Although on Friday early in the day in New York City probably we'll have some leftover showers, definitely some rainy weather down in Philly, baltimore and DC. But further to the north, up and around the Boston area, some beautiful weather moving into there and across much of New England. Temperatures on Thursday generally ranging in the mid-80s with that chance of heavy thunderstorms and there could be some flooding highway and street flooding with some heavier downpours. Then on Friday some leftover showers. Early High pressure starts to build in. Nice weather 80 to 85 for highs, nighttime lows in the 60s. That will be your weather, we Word from Saturday, sunday, even into Monday of next week.
Speaker 1:Well, for flying today it still looks like some heavy weather into the northeast, so there will be some extensive delays into the New York, philadelphia, baltimore and DC area, especially during the afternoon and evening Up in the Boston area, also showing some showers and thunderstorms, but they'll be ending by later in the day. Most of the heavier weather will be to their south and then we get into some great weather for the New England area. On Friday and this upcoming weekend Atlanta will have some scattered showers and thunderstorms, also some afternoon thunderstorms in Charlotte. So minimal delays, but some delays are possible there. Typical thunderstorms off the coast of Florida. It looks like some rainy weather in Houston during the afternoon. Otherwise hazy, hot and humid all the way up into Dallas-Fort Worth and into Amarillo. Westward it looks like dry conditions from San Diego, la up to San Francisco, but some rainy weather in Portland and Seattle. Today I'm Eddie Rodgers in Palantir and I am the weatherman. I hope you have a great day.
