Weather Shift: August's Fresh Start

Stephen Pellettiere
Speaker 1:

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Friday, first day of the month of August 2025. And boy, it was a hot July that we've had and some pretty hectic weather across the Northeast through flood watches and mornings all across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Looks like the heaviest rainfall seemed to be somewhere from about New Paltz, new York, up into about Pittsfield, massachusetts, and extending into central and northern sections of Connecticut. And now during the latter afternoon there were some heavy thunderstorms also off the Jersey coast and also over the Delmarva Peninsula, now big area high pressure currently located right over the Great Lakes, extending from Minnesota eastward right into southern Ontario and Quebec. Well, that high pressure cell is going to move into the northeast and give us some excellent weather for the northeast corridor, commencing later today and lasting probably right in through early next week. In the meantime, the frontal system moving south will possibly give us a little bit of shower action in the morning hours on Friday, but then eventually the rains will most likely extend from East Texas across through Louisiana, alabama, mississippi, into Georgia and the Carolinas and also into southern Virginia by later Friday and into Saturday and Sunday. Almost a stationary front down there, as that high pressure itself builds right into the northeast is going to give you some excellent weather for the first three days of the new month of August.

Speaker 1:

Elsewhere around the nation we are looking at generally rainy weather, as I mentioned, around the Gulf Coast, eastward to the Carolinas Also some rain from four corners northward, all the way up through the Dakotas, western portions of Nebraska and Kansas and into Colorado, even into Montana and northern Idaho, and even rainy weather into northern Nevada and sections of Utah and eastern portions of Washington and Oregon State. But for the most part our weather situation will continue to be quite nice in the northeast. Carter, from DC up to the Boston area, expect highs 80 to 85. Early showers giving way to clearing on Friday, sunny weather on Saturday, sunny weather on Sunday and Monday and all days, as mentioned in the northeast ranging from 80 to 85, nighttime lows in the 60s. Hope you enjoy this first day of August. We'll have some details in the past month of July and tomorrow's report. In the meantime, have yourself a great day and talk to you soon. Bye-bye.
