August Weather Shift: Cooler Temperatures Replace Summer Heat
Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletier and I'm the weatherman. Thanks for checking in to theweathermanpodcom On your Monday. It is the 18th day in the month of August 2025. And we're looking at a little bit of a cooler flow across the Northeast. There were some thunderstorms that rumbled through in the latter portion of Sunday and Sunday evening and basically it was between a quarter and maybe in some places up to an inch of rain and downpours, but that was extremely localized. That's the way thunderstorms are this time of year Most places just getting light amounts, but under one of those cells that are really intensified can get tremendous amounts of rainfall. Well, the high-pressure cell building in right now is located across the central and northern Great Lakes. It'll move almost to east, slightly southeast, towards the New England states, and it'll keep us in a northeast flow from Philly up to New York and up to the Boston area. The weather should be cooler this week, not as hot as it has been last several days. As a matter of fact, our temperatures for the remainder of this week are probably not getting up above 83 or 84 degrees generally across most areas from, as mentioned, philadelphia, new York and the Boston area, especially up in New England, where it will be cooler in the 70s, temperatures in the 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Next possibility of some rainfall on the light side. That would be either on Wednesday afternoon or Wednesday evening. Another high pressure builds in with some cooler weather for Thursday and Friday this week. So pretty looks like we're going to be trending cooler through this month of August and light amounts of rainfall as well.
Speaker 0:If you are traveling on this Monday, it looks pretty good in Atlanta and Charlotte, no problems. Down in central and south Florida there will be some light day thunderstorms but doesn't cause them very much. As far as delays weather-wise in this type of situation, looking at fair conditions but hot in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Clouding up looks like some late day and evening rain in Chicago Some of the heavier rain will be all across the state of Minnesota. So Minneapolis will be overcast with rain. Some delays getting into there. Dry conditions in San Diego, la, san Francisco. As a matter of fact, frontal systems move through the Pacific Northwest. A clearing trend for Portland and Seattle. No problems weather-wise flying into those places over the next 24 to 36 hours. I'm Eddie Mongeau, steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great Monday. Talk to you first thing tomorrow. See you then.
