Northeast's Pleasant September: Fair Skies and Mild Temperatures Ahead

Stephen Pellettiere
Speaker 0:

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelletierian. I am the weatherman. Thanks for checking into theweathermanpodcom on your Wednesday. It is the third day already of the month of September and it looks like the weather is going to be pretty nice for the northeast corridor over the next several days. What we do have is a big area of high pressure and those are fair weather systems that extend from the Great Lakes all the way to the eastern seaboard, great Lakes all the way to the eastern seaboard and even up into eastern Canada. The temperatures have been quite nice, not too hot, not too cool, generally in the 70s and lower 80s, all with generally fair skies throughout and, as a matter of fact, it looks like the dry weather will continue right in through Thursday as well. On Thursday night and Friday we have a weather front currently across Lake Superior, that's, in the northwestern corner of the Great Lakes, extending down from Minnesota and into Wisconsin. Well, that frontal system does have some showers and even some isolated thunderstorms associated with it, and it will be arriving in the vicinity of the Northeast for Thursday night and early Friday, the high pressure building in behind it, amazingly, from the central portion of the nation. So that means temperatures will be warmer at first, but a second cold front arrives on a Saturday night that brings us a sharply cooler flow of temperatures only in the low to middle 70s for Sunday, monday and possibly even Tuesday of next week.

For the northeast corridor, elsewhere across the nation it's just hot weather. Across the nation's midsection, rainy conditions across the western Great Lakes, as mentioned, and also down into the Dakotas, and still that rainy weather over on the West Coast. Basically there's showers possible in San Diego, la, also around the San Francisco Bay Area, but basically the weather's okay there. After some cool starts to the day, some rainy conditions in Portland and dry in Seattle, tacoma. However, it looks like a little bit of foggy and hazy conditions will be with them over the next several days and along with those warmer conditions as well.

If you're traveling today, it does look like fair conditions in Atlanta, south Florida, some scattered thunderstorms, but no major problems. Houston, dallas all looking good. Chicago, new York area all great weather-wise, no problems. If you are going to have any problems weather-wise, that'll be across Minneapolis-St Paul because of that frontal system that I mentioned, moving down out of central and western Canada. I'm your manager, steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Thursday. See you then.
