Today it looks like nice warm weather up across the northeast. You know, I had some very strong aurora borealis the other day, meaning that the sun was very active, and I've always seen that whenever we have that active sun, especially during the summertime months, a few days later temperature trends seem to pop just a bit. That's what we're seeing in the east, at least I know. Across the nation's midsection it's been very hot, especially across the southern states the last several days. It's been almost the same type of weather situation across the nation for the last several weeks, actually the Four Corners area getting lots of rainfall and a lot of that going into the Colorado River Basin, which should be very helpful to the desert southwest. But again there are some scattered showers and thunderstorms across four corners and in Arizona, utah and central and southern Nevada as well, and it looks like some of that shower action is going into Southern California. They usually get much of their rainfall during the winter months. Not a lot around now, but there have been some more scattered thunderstorms. Of course South Florida also getting their showers and thunderstorms, which is typical. But a frontal system which had been stationary across the Gulf Coast has drifted a little bit further south, as now just across Central and South Florida, and there will be some more showers and thunderstorms there over the next several days, also seeing two frontal systems that will be arriving in the east, the first one arriving tonight, basically representing high pressure from the continent, not from central Canada, but from the western states. That means that once the front goes through, it's not really going to see much of a temperature change. There will be showers and thunderstorms associated with the front. That'll be on Thursday night. It's been much needed rainfall. Only had about an inch inch and a half of rain during the month of August. We really do need some rainfall to keep that water table up in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. We hope for that rain on Thursday night.

Friday is looking like a fair but warm day. Yet again, another cold front, but this one, the leading edge of cool, dry air from Canada working its way down out of Alberta and Saskatchewan, will continue to drift eastward and move through on Saturday night, with some showers and thunderstorms. Then we get into some fair but cool conditions Sunday, monday and Tuesday of next week for the northeast. Highs only in the 70s with low, comfortable relative humidity. So it looks like a great day today 80 to 85, but some thunderstorms are likely tonight and then another fair day for Friday into early Saturday. Some thunderstorms on Saturday night, then turning a little bit cooler as we are also into meteorological autumn already as of the first day of September and I know the 22nd is astronomical the autumnal equinox. But it does look like a little bit of warmth for the next several days.

If you're traveling today, atlanta is looking pretty good. There will be showers and thunderstorms in Charlotte, especially in the afternoon and evening, and that's going to cause some delays Even in the New York area. Any flights inbound to New York or outbound will probably have some delays on Thursday evening because of those expected thunderstorms. Central and South Florida also with showers and thunderstorms. Dry in New Orleans, dry in Houston and Dallas, but hot. Dry also in Chicago. A drying trend in the Minneapolis area, but they will get into some rain with the next frontal system moving through. Some showers in and around San Diego and LA and also in San Francisco, but very, very light, very spotty Looks. Dry also in the Pacific Northwest. I'm meteorologist, steve Pelletieri, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today and we'll talk to you first thing on Friday. See you then.
