A Powerful Low Brings Rain North While Melissa Roars Through The Caribbean

SPEAKER_00:

Hi, this is Midi Roger Steve Pellethier. I'm the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into WeathermanPod.com on your Tuesday. Yes, the 28th day, the month of October, and the days quickly going through for this month. Looks like we have some East Coast weather moving up. We've got a major area of low pressure that's going to drift further north into the western portions of the Carolinas right now and then over the northeast by this Thursday. The drift further northwards, spreading some rain into the New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore area, and even up into Boston by later on Thursday, into Thursday night. And then high pressure starts to build in for the last day of the month on Friday, Halloween. We get into some great weather, but cooler conditions expected for the Eastern Seaboard this upcoming first weekend of November, Saturday and Sunday. In the meantime, for today, it'll be sunshine to the north, increasing clouds to the south, with some showers moving in from the south. Or high temperatures between 55 and 62 at night. Some showers are likely south and then overnight, south, we mean Philadelphia, down to about Baltimore, D.C., and down into the Virginias and the Carolinas as well. And then during the daytime tomorrow, it'll be variably cloudy. The possibility of some showers moving up from the south to the north. And our high temperatures for the day, also 55 to 60. The rainy day is going to be on Thursday. Heavy rains, possibly even some thunderstorms, and one to two inches of rainfall possible on Thursday as that storm gathers strength and moves offshore. Frontal system goes by. Maybe some early showers Friday on Halloween Friday. We get into clearing, breezy, and it's going to be cool. Highs in the middle 50s. Fair weather from both Saturday and Sunday of this upcoming weekend. Category 5, Hurricane Melissa is now south of Jamaica and south of the eastern portion of Cuba and western section of the Dominican Republic. And it does look like uh, and in Haiti Hispaniola, it looks like uh the storm is going to cross possibly just over the eastern section of Jamaica and then eventually over uh eastern Cuba, with the net result being uh tremendous force of wind and rain and stormy conditions as that system moves on through. Uh, we also see it getting very close to Bermuda at around 8 p.m. on Thursday evening. So it will go over the Bahamas on Wednesday morning and Wednesday afternoon, then further north, and then forward speed increases should be over Bermuda on Thursday, then off into the North Atlantic as it diminishes parallel to the eastern seaboard this upcoming Friday into the upcoming weekend. Rapidly moving into the North Atlantic. So a major category five hurricane due to affect Jamaica and head on, it looks like, and uh also just over the eastern portion of Cuba, western Hispaniola over Haiti, and then across the Bahamas, Bermuda by Thursday at 8 p.m. If you're flying today, the government shutdown continues, and of course, that's uh going to cause delays all across the nation. I'm dealing with weather delays, and weather delays probably over Charlotte, maybe eastern sections of North Carolina, Raleigh to maybe Virginia Beach, and possibly just around Richmond. And then as you head towards Atlanta and down to Central and South Florida, the weather looks pretty good. Good weather, no problems in Houston and Dallas, although Dallas will have some thunderstorms earlier in the day, so there could be some delays going into East Texas during the morning hours on Tuesday, Tuesday afternoon. Things start to improve. Also looking at some heavy weather in Kansas City, central Iowa, just about all over the state of Minnesota, so it will be raining and also some thunderstorms in Minneapolis, St. Paul. West Coast is dry. San Diego, Los Angeles, up to Sacramento and San Francisco, and even uh to Northern California. It does look dry weather. Another low pressures moving into the west. That's going to cause rain in Portland and Seattle. Later tomorrow, and uh also during the daytime on Thursday as well. The Pacific Northwest under a run of storms moving in from the northern Pacific. I'm in your Major, Steve Pellet here, and I am the weatherman. A lot of information today. We'll update Melissa during the daytime tomorrow. And then we are looking ahead towards some uh rainy weather on Thursday. Talk to you then.
