Wind Calms Down, Airports Don’t: Your Forecast With A Side Of Delays
Hi, this is Meteorology Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com on your Saturday. It's the first day of November 2025. And finally, uh some better weather across the Northeast, very windy conditions yesterday on the last day of October. This from a very deep low pressure system located right over Newfoundland and Labrador. It will continue to intensify and move over the North Atlantic over the next several days. Our strong northwesterly winds look like they will die down. The little frontal system will be moving through the New England states. So lots of cloud cover from New York across and through much of central and southern New England, but generally fair skies, expected across the mid-Atlantic states and all the way down into Georgia and into Florida as well. So weather situation for the New York area, mid-Atlantic and Northeast, basically calling for partial sunshine. Windy conditions today, but not as windy. High temperatures 55 to 60. At night, back to 35 to 40 with diminished winds. Plenty of sunshine for Sunday. Sunday's high temperatures will range in the 50s to the lower 60s. And Monday also looking generally fair to partly cloudy. A little frontal system will be moving through later in the day, and at night could bring us some showers later on Monday into early Tuesday. Fair weather expected for midweek. If you're flying by air today, it looks like our weather situation, at least the weather will not cause delays. I know there's extensive delays because of staffing. And uh actually, quite uh honestly, it looks like that will continue right through the weekend, despite any good weather that we do have. It's just that when you have very bad weather, it makes matters even worse. Chicago having some scattered showers. Rain expected in Tacoma and Seattle and Portland. Looks like dry weather, much of San Francisco, all the way down to LA. Uh looks like Houston will have some showers, as will Dallas, Fort Worth, but dry in Florida, Atlanta, Charlotte, and in the New York area. But those strong winds may still slow things down to even more so traveling this upcoming weekend. Probably the best time to fly, I would imagine, is red eyes, late evening, overnight, maybe last flights. Uh a lot of times there's going to be a lot of delays in those. However, uh for the most part, uh you'll probably have decent weather conditions and also some decent staffing because of less scheduled flights. Might be something to consider over the next several days. If in fact you have to travel uh in the first week of November until this uh government shutdown uh does end. And hopefully that will be soon. I'm Eddie Moder, Steve Pelletier and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Sunday. See you then.
