Snow Pounds The Great Lakes As The Northeast Turns Cold
Hi, this is Middle Model, Steve Pelletier. I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the Weathermanpod.com on your Wednesday. It's the 26th day in the month of November 2025, the day before the holiday weekend. The Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Looks like the weather will be fair for the most part, but we've got a lot of action today. Where all the snow is today, it's all across the Great Lakes. From Wisconsin across northward and through eastern and northern Minnesota, northern sections of Illinois, Indiana, all across Michigan and the UP, and even extending uh into northwestern sections of Ohio. But eventually that area is going to be drifting off to the east. The area of low pressure will move across southern Canada, into Ottawa, and then into Ontario, and uh probably give areas just to the south and east of Lake Erie, Ontario, uh some heavy lake effect snow squalls sometime later on tonight and tomorrow morning. But in the New York area, Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C., the weather will be improving, but it will be blustery and colder, with expected highs only near 45 to 50 down in D.C., only about 43 to 48 in New York City, and holding between 40 and 45 in the Boston area. Still with a lingering shower threat into the evening hours, but then some clearing as a big area of high pressure. Currently moving down into the Dakotas, and the central portion of the nation will be arriving east. Give us fair but chilly conditions as we head towards uh Thanksgiving Day and also Black Friday and Saturday. It looks like both days are looking fair but chilly. By Sunday, another area of low pressure will be arriving in the east, could bring us some rain. But as mentioned, the big story, of course, the big snows that are all across the western portion of the Great Lakes during this afternoon. In some places, feet of snow, especially south of Lake Superior. Uh, probably not around Duluth, but to all areas, all coastal areas in northern Wisconsin and uh western portion or the UP of Michigan, we're looking at between uh anyways, between 10 and 30 inches of snowfall because of this big storm heading off towards the east. Won't be affecting the New York area or elsewhere across the nation. However, it is going to be drifting eastward, and as uh Lake Effect snow squalls south of Erie and Ontario will be a problem for tonight and for tomorrow. But uh it looks like the weather situation for tomorrow is going to be dry, looking at high temperatures ranging only between 42 and 47. Saturday sunshine, or excuse me, Friday sunshine with temperatures also in the low to middle 40s, uh mid-40s expected for Saturday and near 50, with more rainy weather moving in from the west on Sunday of this upcoming weekend. That forecast generally for the Northeast Carter, D.C., up to the Boston area. And as mentioned, in uh western New York State, northwestern Pennsylvania, even uh northern Ohio, there'll be lake effects snow squalls for tonight and for Thanksgiving Day. But dry weather in New York. Now, if you're traveling today, big travel day. It looks like the weather is beginning to be okay in Atlanta, but windy, so there's gonna be kind of slow. And also into the Charlotte area. There'll be some rain showers from Jacksonville across through just north of Tampa St. Pete, but down to central and south Florida. It looks like the weather will be okay, so no problems there. Houston and Dallas are looking fine. Looks like snow and some squalls in the Chicago area, so there will be delays getting in and out of there. Similar situation for Madison, Wisconsin, and also up in Duluth. And Minneapolis, St. Paul also with snow showers and squalls, expected to slow travel into those places. But it will be improving at night and during the daytime on Thanksgiving Day. Dry weather in LA, San Francisco, rainy weather in Portland and in Seattle. And that is going to be moving east as we head through the next several days. I'm Eddie Rogers, Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to your first thing on Thanksgiving morning. And if you take a day off on the Weatherman pod tomorrow, hope you have a great Thanksgiving. The best of you and all your family.
