Snowstorm Targets Chicago And The Great Lakes
This is Mediobologist Heat Pelletier, and I'm the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into theWeathermanpod.com. A special uh midday update on your Saturday. It is the 29th day of November, and we're talking about the Midwest blizzard or the Midwest snowstorm. Uh, there are going to be uh temperatures generally in the 20s and lower 30s, extending from much of Iowa, southern Minnesota, all across Wisconsin, and central in northern Illinois, also central in northern Indiana, and of course, a good portion of Michigan. And uh the maximum amount of snowfall that we're seeing, probably somewhere between 10 and 15 inches in eastern Iowa, southern portions of Wisconsin, including Chicago, northern Illinois, northern Illinois, Chicago area, probably somewhere between 10 and 15 inches of snow. And it looks like that extends even into central and southern Michigan, from uh right around the uh east shores of southern Lake Michigan to Kalamazoo, and then also over to the Detroit area. Uh by midday on Sunday, Detroit will probably have close to eight inches of snowfall from this storm. But for the most part, uh right now in the early portion of Saturday and through the midday, the clouds are on the increase, and the snow is already into central and western sections of Iowa, and it's heading due east, and we'll be arriving in the Chicago area. Winter storm warnings in effect for all those areas that I mentioned uh for a good portion of today, tonight, into tomorrow, and they'll be digging out of this storm as we head into the first day of December on Monday. With a start of meteorological winter in the northern hemisphere, uh the conditions will show that that storm is moving towards the east-northeast and probably will miss the eastern seaboard. However, it will be causing quite a bit of snowfall uh across northern states during the daytime on Sunday into early Monday. So, just more importantly, into the Chicago area if you're trying to travel into that region. The reason is, of course, the big snowstorm, and it will not be really cleaned up until sometime on Monday. If you're trying to get to the West Coast, best go to the south of the Atlantic, take some flights from Atlanta to Houston to the West Coast if necessary. And you should have a better possibility of completing your trip that way. So, recapping for the Great Lakes, the Southern Great Lakes, winter storm warnings are in effect. The snow is already starting in Chicago, it's moving into northern Indiana, western Ohio, and southern Michigan. And they're looking forward between 10 and 15 inches of snow this afternoon, tonight, and tomorrow cleanup coming up later tomorrow into early next week. Next update coming a little bit later on today, and tonight uh we'll talk to you first thing overnight tonight and on Sunday morning. I'm Steve Pelviti. Have a great day.
