Cold Snap Across The East
Hi, this is Biddy Rotter, Steve Pelleterian. I'm the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the Weathermanpod.com. On your Monday, it's the eighth day in the month of December. And the month almost quickly getting close to a third of the way through. And it's been colder than normal. It looks like the colder than normal conditions in the east. Actually, from the Great Lakes and northern plain states, all the way to the east and even into the southeast are averaging between two and four degrees below normal. And uh looks like uh it's gonna trend. That trend will continue throughout the daytime today. Looking for generally fair skies, partly to mostly sunny from DC up to the Boston area, and looking at high temperatures ranging to around 31 degrees and 30 to 35 in the city, about 25 to 30 in eastern PA and southeastern New York. Daytime on Monday with the clouds in the later afternoon, giving way to generally clear skies at night and very cold, 10 to 15 in many communities. It looks like fair skies for Tuesday. Look for sunshine, then it increasing clouds, middle 30s, and it starts to warm up a bit. We do see a little pressure coming in from the west. Could give us, for the most part, some rain, but in the normal places, Poconos, Catskills, Interior New York, southeastern portions of uh Connecticut, and also into northwestern uh Connecticut and central Hudson Valley, all the way up to Albany. You could have a little icy mix over to some rainy weather just as that next front moves through on Wednesday. Then on Thursday, back to Sunshine, a little bit warmer in the 40s, but we do see a return to some colder weather towards the end of the week. Maybe some snow or snow showers for Friday and Friday night before the next cold front arrives next weekend. Recapping, looks like our weather for today is going to be generally fair. High temperatures, upper 20s, low to middle 30s, with partial sun, touch warmer in the mid-30s tomorrow. Now, if you're traveling by air today, generally fair skies across the New York area up to the Boston region with high pressure, currently across the eastern Great Lakes. We're seeing an area of low pressure that's going to be giving snow to sections of West Virginia. Also the Shenandoah of the state of Virginia and western North Carolina. That'll show up as rain from the outer banks all the way up to Virginia Beach. But some sections of the Delmarva Peninsula, and even from Baltimore to D.C. may get a little bit of some snow action as that frontal system in low pressure moves offshore. So dry in the New York area, dry in Atlanta. Looks like some showers for South Florida, dry in Houston and Dallas Fort Worth, no problems weatherwise there. Chicago should be generally fair. Maybe some snow showers and cold. Minneapolis, St. Paul, dry in San Diego, LA, and San Francisco. Rainy weather in Portland and Seattle. Once again, for the DC area, though, Dulles and maybe even to Richmond, there could be some areas of snow and rain. That could slow things down traveling into those places during the daytime and evening today. I'm in your Steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Tuesday. See you then.
