Deep Freeze To Thaw

Stephen Pellettiere
SPEAKER_00:

Hi, this is Meteorologist Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com on your Tuesday, 16th day of the month of December, and now into the second half of the month, and our weather situation across the mid-Atlantic at Northeast has been like mid-January, like deep winter. Sometimes the winter situations start up that way and then can change in a dime. But after between four and eight inches of snowfall from D.C. all the way up to southern New England over the last weekend, we continue the very cold weather flow for today and starts to break a little bit tomorrow. And by Thursday, it'll start to warm up, and a lot of melting will be occurring in the New York City area, Philadelphia, New Jersey, southeastern sections of New York State and southern New England as our temperatures do get up into the 40s, close to 50 for Thursday. A rainstorm currently across the West Coast, actually still to the west of the West Coast with uh secondary low pressure expected to develop, is going to be tracking across the nation. And by the time it reaches here later Thursday, it will be in the form of rain. So temperatures will often very warm. Uh the outbreaks of cold air temporarily starting to shut down just for a while. We are going to get back into some uh more near normal conditions temperature-wise as we head into this upcoming weekend. But for today, looking at sunshine and temperatures still cold, only ranging in the upper 20s in the north and west to about uh 30 to 35 elsewhere. At night, it's going to be clear and cold, with overnight lows down to about 20 to 25. Our weather tomorrow also features sunshine, the partly sunny weather, and temperatures back up into the lower 40s. So it looks like a good 10-degree warm-up for Wednesday. By Thursday, another 10 to that close to 50, but with an increase in clouds, it looks like it brings some rain for Thursday night and early Friday. Then clearing windy and cold as we head through later Friday and this upcoming weekend. Another frontal system possibly moving through on Sunday of this weekend. Now, if you're traveling by air today, it looks like the weather's going to be good across the northeast, Carter, D.C., Philadelphia, Baltimore up to uh New York, New York, LaGuardia, all looking good weather-wise. Weather's going to be good up in the Boston area, too. And Atlanta looking at fair skies, good weather for Atlanta and northern Georgia. Charlotte's also going to be dry, dry in Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul, a little warm front moving by there, but they've had quite a bit of winter so far. Uh quite a bit of snowfall over the last uh two weeks, and uh looks like they'll have some melting with this little warm front moving through, but cold fronts will be arriving there soon over the next couple of days in Minneapolis and central and southern Minnesota. Los Angeles, also San Diego, dry weather for today, but clouds on the increase. Looks like the possibility of some rain tonight. Rainy weather in San Francisco, also rain in Portland, and more Seattle rains expected to continue today into tonight. I'm Indiana, just he pelletier, and I am the weatherman. Hope I have a great day today. Talk to you first thing on Wednesday. See you then.
