Snow Squalls Fade, Sunshine Returns Across The Northeast
Hi, this is Meteor Model Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the Weathermanpod.com on your Thursdays, the first day of January. Happy New Year, everyone, 2026. Now on way to some very uh cold conditions for the next several days across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Set up on a weather chart shows an area of low pressure across Nebraska. Warm front extends from there southward into Kansas and then almost stationary front that goes from northern Arkansas right to the coast of Virginia. The heaviest snow skulls are just about over the Rochester area, extending down just south of Utica Rome and into the Syracuse region. And the frontal system moving on through did cause some scattered showers and snow showers earlier this morning in the pre-dawn hours. And looks like we have uh in many places uh about a coating to generally less than an inch in the squalls as that front moved through at around 4 to 8 o'clock in the morning hours. Our weather forecast for this first day of January, calling for some snow showers to move east. We get into a clearing trend becoming sunny. The highs for the day will range between 30 and 35 at night. It's going to be clear and cold, with nighttime low temperatures back to 18 to 23. Another sunny day, but also on a cold side, once again on Friday. Friday's high temperatures in the lower 30s, partly to mostly sunny, 30 to 35 on Saturday. A low to mid-30s expected for Sunday as well. All with generally fair, dry conditions right in through early next week. Traveling by air today, it looks like we've got great weather in the New York area. Those snow showers and uh they're early going today, but that's all off to the east, and we've got high pressure building in. So it means uh good weather at North LaGuardia, JFK, and it looks like these conditions up in Boston as well. Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Richmond, no problems weather-wise there. It's also going to be dry in Charlotte and also in Atlanta, dry conditions, very good weather down in the Atlantic area, even though our weather situation has been a bit active in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast, it has been generally okay across central and northern Georgia. Central and South Florida looking pretty good from Tampa St. Pete to Orlando, southward to West Palm and into Miami at Fort Lauderdale, although late-day thunderstorms are possible, South Florida and over to the Keys. Dry weather in Houston and Dallas, but rain has now arrived in the West Coast. Going to rain in San Diego and LA and some pretty heavy rains too at times. There could be some flash flooding. San Francisco with rainy weather, also rainy, and Portland and Seattle, Tacoma as well. I'm India Volunter, Steve Pellethiery, and I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Happy New Year. And talk to you first thing tomorrow. I'll see you then.
