Welcome And Date Check
SPEAKER_00Hi, this is Meteor Moderator Steve Pelleterian. I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com on your Tuesday. It's the 17th day of the month, March 2026, and snowfall amounts in the UP of Michigan. That's the upper Great Lakes, right between uh Lake Huron and uh Lake Superior. Those two lakes there that compromises uh pretty much uh the northern portion of Michigan as it goes all the way far south to the border of Ohio. But up in that area, they do tend to have some very strong storms. And uh looks like the blizzard conditions will end early in Tuesday morning after about between 10 and 30, 33 inches of snowfall, and higher drifts, of course, because of the strong winds. In the east, it was a rainstorm. That's because the big center of the low pressure is off to the west. That means on the east side of the low pressure system, the winds come right out of the south. South of here it's warm, ocean is warm, and we have rainy weather in many places. But that has given way to a clearing trend now. And that cold front went through during the pre-dawn hours Tuesday. Now we're going to have a clearing trend with sunshine. There could be some snow showers or flurries across northwestern PA, northeastern sections of uh New Jersey, northwestern New Jersey, northeastern PA, and southeast New York. Uh, this as the strong northwesterly winds will be coming down across those Great Lakes and keeping us clouds and maybe a few snow flurries here and there as the but winds are going to be quite strong, mostly out of the west, northwest, 15 to 30, gusting up to 40. And uh that will figure in some of the airline delays, and we'll get to that in just a moment. But fortunately it will be clearing nighttime lows below freezing, low to middle 20s, depending upon where you are. And then uh daytime Wednesday, mostly sunny, all the way up to near 40, averaging about a good six degrees below normal for that date. But by Thursday, part of the sunny, 48, so we're back to normal. Friday looks like sunshine is well in the 50s. So the week will be cold, starting and then gradually getting warmer as we head towards the end of the week in this upcoming weekend. If you are traveling by air today, as I mentioned a little bit earlier, that strong northwesterly flow will keep the wind gust up to about 40 miles per hour, 40 knots at times. Not all the time. Most of the time it'll be somewhere between about 12 and 20, mostly out of the west. But uh, as mentioned, it does cause uh delays, and especially at Norwich, because they have to change runways going around and uh landing on one runway, taking off on the other, just to keep things moving there. LaGuardia and JFK also will have some slight delays, but nothing major. Good weather up in Boston, but the winds will be strong there as well. DC and Baltimore also looking pretty good. VFR conditions, lighter winds there. Atlanta's dry, a dry also in the Charlotte area. And Central and South Florida starting to dry out just a bit. Still the possibility of some late-day thunderstorms. Miami all the way down to the Keys. West Coast showing dry weather in LA and San Francisco. Houston, Dallas also looking good. Chicago's starting to get a little bit improved weather, but still quite cold today. And uh Minnesota looks like some snow across the Minneapolis, St. Paul, back up to the Pacific Northwest, and it'll zigzag there just a little bit. Uh, in Tacoma, we've got uh rainy weather and also rain in Seattle. No change there. I am Midian, Steve Pelletier, and that is the weather for today. I am the weatherman. Hope you have a great day today. Talk to your first thing on Wednesday. See you then.
