Welcome And The Date

Hi, this is Midi Roger, Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into theWeathermanPod.com on your Monday. It's the 27th day of the month of April 2026. Boy, this month has just gone by so quickly. And here we are looking at the last few days of the month. We had some much needed rainfall over the weekend. I know it was like a lousy Saturday afternoon with the rain in some places between one and two inches of rainfall, much needed rainfall across the area. It caused the lawns and gardens to get going. And uh, well, we had some dry weather moving in on Sunday, some very nice conditions, and today looks like a pretty good day, too. Just want to mention that uh we did put the information from Jeff Morrison on Neural Networks or AI and the National Weather Service and the European weather modeling agencies where they uh are using neural networks and artificial intelligence to uh cause these weather models to get a little bit better. That was listed yesterday at 2 p.m. We're gonna do the same thing today, and I think as a feature over the next several days, we're gonna start talking about some weather during the afternoon hours. I think most folks just get together in the morning, find out what the weather situation is gonna be for the day, maybe take a look for tomorrow. That information is gonna be there. It'll probably be something that's uh listed or at least listed for you somewhere between midnight and 2 a.m. And then uh somewhere during the afternoon hours, we're gonna have some more weather information. You know, uh you always uh dabble with the idea of putting a video up on YouTube or something like that, but really not necessary. What are you gonna do with your phone? You're gonna take a look at it. Just me talking, who cares? Maybe with some charts, maybe with some uh weather pictures of snow or lightning or tornadoes or whatever. It's really not necessary. Want to tell you what's going on, want to give you some information, want to improve your understanding of weather and the environment, and that's what we're trying to do here. Well, the weather for today is going to be pretty good. We've got uh plenty of sunshine coming up for the day, and our high temperatures, well, generally not too bad for this time of year, going up into uh the mid to upper 60s. That's pretty close to normal, near 70 degrees in Baltimore and D.C., but uh New York City, about 68, and same thing in central and northern New Jersey. Mostly clear skies at night. It'll be down into the 40s, and sunshine with an increase in clouds again back into the 60s, which is normal for this time of year on Tuesday, and some much needed showers moving in on Tuesday night, and maybe some more rainy weather on Wednesday, mostly cloudy, with the possibility of some showers looking at maybe a tenth to a quarter of an inch then, and then showers of Wednesday night giving way to some more showers on Thursday, but we do get into some drier weather for Friday as we enter into the new month of May. It looks like some nice weather coming up for next weekend. Kentucky Derby, it's derby time next weekend as well. So uh we'll be uh talking about that, what the weather's gonna be at Churchill Downs in Kentucky next weekend. Now, if you're traveling by air today, the purpose behind this discussion is just to give you an idea that are there gonna be any delays because of the weather at specific places, hubs that you might be going into. Uh if you're going nonstop one place to the other, well, you might not know where the destination is going to be. But if you're going to go into Atlanta or into Charlotte or into Chicago, up to Minneapolis, St. Paul, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Miami, these are all hubs that uh when the weather is bad there, it sort of like kicks out all types of delays for the rest of the country, too. So that's why we talk about it. No problems in the northeast, though. Great weather from Boston, D.C., Philly, New York, uh, all the way down into D.C. and Richmond. Also Charlotte and Atlanta looking dry. Good weather in central and south Florida, no problems at Houston. Some thunderstorms in Dallas. The severe weather is going to be basically over southern Missouri and northern Arkansas, northwestern Oklahoma. It could be some locally severe tornadoes and some thunderstorms there. West Coast showing generally drying out a bit. Could be some scattered showers in the San Joaquin, but it does look like LA generally okay. Dry weather in San Francisco and Seattle and Tacoma. Quick look for tomorrow. Weather will be moving into the northeast. Uh, no major problems, but Atlanta will have rain because a little bit of delays into Charlotte, no problems elsewhere. Everybody else is looking pretty good, but uh that rainy weather will be moving into the northeast midweek. Once again, I'm Meteorologist Steve Pelletier, and I am the weatherman. If you want to invite if you haven't uh already listened to our uh weather models and neural networks, that's up there now, and we'll repeat that this afternoon as well. And uh we'll be getting some more weather information for you as the week continues. Have a great day today. Talk to your first thing tomorrow. See you then.
