Welcome And Today’s Setup
SPEAKER_00Hi, this has been your brother, Steve Pelleterian. I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking in to the WeathermanPod.com on your Wednesday. It's the 29th day of the month of April, 2026, and our weather situation turning towards a little bit more wet weather. Well, it's been a dry April so far in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast. About some rainfall running about one to two inches below normal for the month so far. I normally get close to four inches. We've probably got about half that. And we could get some locally heavy thunderstorms. The problem is you need that long duration type of rain, a good long soaking rain that takes about 12 hours. We're going to be getting in the rain probably between 8 a.m., excuse me, 8 p.m. and about 2 a.m. this evening and overnight. And it could come out in locally heavy downpours. And I know a lot of folks putting down either fertilizer or any type of treatments of the lawns and gardens. When you have those heavy downpours, it tends to really sometimes run off and it could be quite a waste. After this time, we do see some dry conditions. It'll probably last at least up until maybe the seventh or eighth of the month of May. So if you are going to be putting down any fertilizer or anything like that, or doing some outdoor work, uh you can uh expect to need to water uh yourself because uh we are looking at uh the possibility of that dry weather lasting uh better than a week or so. But it is gonna be raining for tonight. Uh mostly cloudy day today, or high temperatures ranging into the middle sixties, and then those thunderstorms and showers tonight, between a half and an inch and a half of rainfall, depending upon where you are. And overnight temperatures down to the middle forties. Some of those showers will still linger in the morning hours in Philly, New York, and up in the Boston area. Should start clearing out quickly, though, down in D.C. and Richmond. But we are looking at a clearing trend in the afternoon as high temperatures get back into the middle 60s on Thursday, the last day of this month of April. And then we open up the new month of May with some cool conditions Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Temperatures probably averaging about maybe five to seven degrees below normal, commencing on Friday and lasting right up through Saturday and Sunday with generally fair skies, daytime highs 50s to near 60, nighttime lows back into the 40s for this weekend. Now, if you're traveling by air today, weather in the New York area, not bad, even up in the Boston area. It should be dry, but there will be some low-level clouds, and that may slow things down just a bit. Uh, your really heavy uh delays for the New York area, Philadelphia, and D.C. will be this evening when that thunderstorm area moves in, along with that cold front, an area of low pressure working its way from Pittsburgh around the eastward, just over central and southern New Jersey and Del Marva by the overnight hours and early in the morning hours on Thursday. That means it's going to be raining in D.C., Baltimore too, looking at rainy conditions also in Charlotte. A clearing trend taking hold in Atlanta, dry conditions in central and south Florida. Some showers at Houston, a heavy shower and thunderstorm action in Dallas, Fort Worth, but that should be clearing out. Still some lingering showers in the Chicago area and also in Minneapolis, St. Paul, mostly cloudy, but nothing major. No major areas of low pressure storms there. Uh the heaviest weather is going to be over East Texas and northern Louisiana. Uh, West Coast was looking drive from San Diego, LA, San Francisco, all the way up to Portland and Seattle on your Wednesday. Hope you have a good day today. Talk to you first thing on Thursday. Last day of the month. See you then.
