Welcome And May Snapshot

SPEAKER_00

Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelpitiri, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into theWeathermanpod.com on your Friday. It's the 15th day of the month of May, 2020. So far, this month of May has been dry in the northeast, and it's also been just a little bit cooler than normal. That's going to change.

Today’s Highs And Scattered Showers

SPEAKER_00

We're going to have some decent weather for today. As a matter of fact, temperatures will go into the upper 60s and near 70, which is close to normal for this time of year, but dry. There are going to be some scattered showers across the Hudson Valley all the way up to northern New York State into New England and much of the Boston area, coastal sections of Maine, and even portions of Rhode Island. But it looks like dry weather down into the mid-Atlantic states, so it looks like a partly to mostly sunny day in our highs in the 60s to the lower 70s. Fair skies at night, but uh nighttime low temperatures of 45 to 50.

Weekend Warmup Under High Pressure

Then it starts to warm up this weekend. High pressure currently across Ohio will build across the region. That means dry weather and warmer conditions, highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s on Saturday. Sunday temperatures will reach 83 to 88 degrees, and some places may touch 90, especially across the Carolinas and further south. And it looks like as we head towards Sunday, upper 80s near 90. Monday also 80s to near

Midweek Heat Spike Then Cold Front

90. It's Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Strong southwesterly flow will drive temperatures up to almost near record levels, mid-90s in many spots. So a couple of very hot days, Tuesday and Wednesday. Then a cold front arrives later, Thursday and Friday of next week. And hopefully we get back into some near normal conditions. But we do have some hot weather coming up by later Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Pretty good weather coming up for the weekend, a little bit above normal, but very easy to take, as we are expecting fair conditions and uh generally dry weather right through Sunday. As a matter of fact, even

Air Travel Weather Around The US

SPEAKER_00

Monday as well. Now, if you're traveling by air today, it looks like the weather situation still not bad uh across the northeast. The Boston area may have some rain showers, but it does look like uh we are going to have generally fair conditions. North New York, LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Baltimore, DC, all looking pretty good. And in Charlotte and also Atlanta, great weather there. No problems in central and south Florida, Tampa St. Pete down to Fort Myers, around to Miami and Fort Lauderdale, looking pretty good. Houston's all fine. Dallas, Fort Worth, maybe some uh thunderstorms later today, otherwise just hot weather. It'll be dry in Chicago, but warm. Also generally fair skies, a little bit of cloud cover in Minneapolis, St. Paul. Dry in San Diego, LA, and San Francisco, rain in Portland and Seattle, Tacoma later on this Friday. So it looks like we're going to get into some very warm weather in the middle of next week.
