Hi, this is Meteorologist Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com on your Tuesday, 19th day of the month of May 2026.

Heat Advisory And Record Highs

And the heat is in the east. Yesterday temperatures rose between 90 and 95 across the area. Today, a heated visor in effect for many communities and cities from the mid-Atlantic right in through the Northeast because temperatures are going to range into the mid to upper nineties. Now, the record highs for some places, New York City, Philadelphia, all in the upper nineties to near 100, the closest that I can see around 98 degrees, 1962. So if we get above that today, it will be a record for the day. But either way you look at it, it's going to

be hot. And scattered showers and thunderstorms will stay off to the west during the daytime today, but they will be with us tomorrow. A strong cold front will be arriving in the afternoon and evening. And that will bring us back to reality weather-wise with temperatures near normal by the time we get to Thursday, Friday, and into this upcoming weekend. In the meantime, for today, it's going to be sunny and hot highs between 95 and 100 degrees. For tonight, it's going to be partly cloudy down into the mid-70s. Tomorrow's weather sunshine, then an increasing clouds with afternoon showers and thunderstorms and some much needed rainfall,

too. But it's not the right type of rain. We need a good soaking rain. Haven't been getting that, of course, for at least the next twice 20 days. With scattered showers and thunderstorms moving our way, there is the possibility of a quarter to maybe three quarters of an inch of rain. Those thunderstorms, most likely between the hours of 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Wednesday night, it will turn cooler back until the 50s, still with a few lingering

showers. And Thursday, back to partial sunshine, highs ranging between 70 and 75, and also in the upper 60s and lower 70s for Friday of this week with the possibility of some scattered light showers. Now, if you're traveling by air today, it looks like good weather, but hot weather in Atlanta and in Charlotte. And even heat sometimes does cause them delays because of uh, well, scattered showers, some thunderstorms that will be developing over the nations midsection, but uh also because of the heat. The air is thinner, takes a little bit longer to get off the ground, and of course that uh slows things down just a little bit. But uh that's during the midday and during the afternoon at the height of the heat. Also looking at fair conditions up in the Boston area, no problems there. Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms, Central and South Florida. Houston is going to be generally fair, but Dallas Fort Worth, the possibility of some locally severe thunderstorms and possibility of some hail and some delays getting into Dallas Fort Worth today. Also, for the Chicago area earlier, we do have that frontal system poking through around middle afternoon. That will cause showers and thunderstorms and some delays in midway once again today. Some light rain, no major problems in Minneapolis, St. Paul, but LA, San Francisco, West Coast, all looking pretty good for today. I'm India Maller, Steve Pellatier, and I am the weatherman.

Hope you have a great day today. Try to keep cool. Drink plenty of water and fluids, stay away from alcohol. That only makes things hotter. And uh give yourself a little break during the afternoon heat. I'm Steve Pellatier. Have a great day. See you tomorrow.
