Quick Intro And The Date
SPEAKER_00Hi, this is Midi Roger, Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking in to the WeathermanPound.com on your Wednesday. It's the 20th day of the month of May 2026. And uh two-thirds of the way through
Heat Wave And Shoreline Cooldown
SPEAKER_00the month. Started off with below normal temperatures, and then we got into this heat wave of late. And uh since Sunday, we've had some very, very, very warm conditions across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast, although along the Jersey Shore, I saw a lot of temperatures cooler. Uh most of the coast of Delmarva, from Ocean City all the way up to Rehoboth Beach, and then across through Cape May, the temperatures were a little bit cooler. It's that south by southeast breeze that keeps temperatures along the shore cooler in situations like this. A little bit later on in the seasons, as we get into summertime, the ocean starts to warm and the difference is not that great. But this time of year, right along the shore, you can get some very nice readings and very uh cooling breezes there, but probably only within about a mile or two of the shoreline.
Today’s Storm Risk And Cold Front
SPEAKER_00Now, as the day wears on today, we are going to have once again hazy and humid day with a possibility of some heavy thunderstorms during the afternoon. That's a cold front arriving from the west and highs, low to middle 90s, chance of a shower or thunderstorm into this evening, but overnight becoming partly cloudy back into the mid-50s in
Late-Week Trend And Weekend Cooldown
SPEAKER_00many spots. And Thursday, it'll be a mix of clouds and sun with a chance of a sprinkler shower at just about any time, 68. Friday, partly sunny, afternoon shower chance, high 66, a better chance of some rain moving in on Saturday and into early Sunday. And it's going to be cooler this weekend. Temperatures will be averaging a little bit below normal after this very warm condition we've had. Now we're going back the other way into the uh 60s to near 70 for high temperatures. We'll actually get back into the 70s as we head towards Memorial Day on Monday. Uh chance of shower is still 74 Tuesday, back up into the mid to upper 70s, which is pretty close to normal for this time of year.
Northeast Air Travel Delays Timing
SPEAKER_00Now, if you're traveling by air today, can't sugarcoat this across the northeast, expect uh delays. We are going to have that frontal system moving through somewhere between 2 and 4 p.m. It will be preceded and accompanied by some heavy thunderstorms. That is going to slow traffic into the New York area significantly, similar to Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C., all will have delays. So expect delays in and outbound of New York and Newark LaGuardia, JFK, uh, Philadelphia and also Maryland, probably up until about 6 or 7 p.m. things start to improve after that, and uh they'll start to make up some of the time. But it's going to be a tough afternoon and into the early evening because of the thunderstorms and a frontal system moving
National Airport Weather Roundup
SPEAKER_00through. Uh still some scattered showers and thunderstorms in DC. Atlanta, not too bad. It's going to have some scattered showers, but nothing much. The storm is staying off to their west a bit. Charlotte also looking pretty good. Just late-day thunderstorms down in South Florida. Uh heavy rains into Houston, so there'll be problems getting into there and also into the Dallas area. There could be some locally severe thunderstorms. Uh, dry weather in Chicago, finally, it's been lousy there for the last couple of days, but it does look better up in Minneapolis, St. Paul, West Coast staying dry. LA all the way up to Seattle. The weather looking very, very good for travelers to the West Coast on your Wednesday. But in the east, it's going to be tough. Expect delays. I've been you'll Justine Fellethiery, and I am the weatherman. We'll have a great day today. Talk to you first thing tomorrow. See you then.
