Welcome And The Weekend Setup

SPEAKER_00

Hi, this is Midi Roger, Steve Pellethier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the WeathermanPod.com on your Friday, 22nd day of the month of May 2026, and we're entering into the Memorial Day weekend.

April And May Heat Swings

SPEAKER_00

We've had some hot weather in the month of April. I had some hot weather in the month of May. And even though we had those hot outbreaks each time, temperatures started out below normal. Had that heat, especially from last Sunday up until Wednesday of this week, and then started to cool back a bit today. And we're going to have cooler than normal conditions, at least up until about the middle of this upcoming week. Maybe by Wednesday and Thursday, we could see temperatures back into the lower 80s, which is a little bit above normal, but then return to some cooler than normal conditions to end off the month of May. Looks like probably going to be about a degree or two above normal. And hopefully we'll get some much needed rainfall. We do need this rain all across the mid-Atlantic and northeast. That rainy weather is coming unfortunately during the holiday weekend.

Rain Timeline From Friday To Monday

SPEAKER_00

For today, though, mostly cloudy, still partly sunny further north, more clouds to the south, and maybe even a few showers. Some frontal systems hung up across the Carolinas and also over the Virginias. Temperatures for the day generally into the mid-60s. It's east winds that'll keep things cool, especially along the shore there. It looks like rainy weather overnight Friday into Saturday. Saturday looks like rain 57. Rainy weather on Saturday night. Temperatures back into the mid to upper 40s for nighttime lows, even down to D.C. and uh even further south to Richmond. You are going to have that uh temperature trend that's going to be on the cool side, generally 40s to lower 50s. And even Sunday, steady rain that we have early will give way to just some showers during the afternoon. The threat of showers will even continue on Memorial Day

Monday. Temperatures on Sunday will range to about 60 or the mid-60s, highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s for Monday. Then Tuesday looks mostly cloudy, warming up a bit, 81, but I guess up to 81, you can have some sun. Up to 84, 85 degrees expected for Wednesday and Thursday of next week, then a cool down uh towards Friday and next weekend. So that's uh pretty good look at the end of uh, well, pretty much most of the end of this month of May. It's been up and down temperature-wise, but it's basically been dry, so this rain coming is well needed.

Air Travel Forecast Across The US

SPEAKER_00

Now, if you're traveling by air today, still rainy conditions down in D.C., Richmond, Baltimore. Also, rain is expected across much of uh central and western North Carolina, Charlotte included, uh, western South Carolina, Georgia, in Atlanta. It's going to be overcast. I have foreign conditions and rain. So there will be some slight delays getting into Charlotte and also into Atlanta. Doesn't look too bad down in central and south Florida. A few scattered showers in Houston and Dallas. Generally dry, but a lot of clouds in Chicago. Rainy weather has now moved in to much of Minnesota during the daytime today. It does look dry from LA all the way up to San Francisco, and no problems weatherwise into Portland and Seattle today. So we are looking at some uh pretty good weather. And it does look like if you're traveling even on Saturday, it will be rainy, especially across the Northeast, uh, even down to Atlanta. So there are going to be some significant airline delays because of the weather in the central and eastern portion of the nation for this upcoming holiday
