Welcome And Today’s Date
SPEAKER_00Hi, this is meteorologist Steve Pelthetier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the Weathermanpod.com. On your Tuesday, it's the 26th day of the month of May, 2026, a month that's shown us very warm weather and very cool weather, dry conditions and very wet weather.
Holiday Rain Then Drying Trend
SPEAKER_00Had some wet weather over this past holiday weekend, some much needed rainfall, I might add, in some places between one and two inches of rain. Mostly later Saturday, Saturday night and early Sunday. But it looks like right now we're going to get into some drier conditions. There is the possibility of some isolated showers with a couple of frontal systems moving through, say sometime on Wednesday night, early Thursday, but then we get some dry weather that conventions on Thursday. Probably last right up through this upcoming last weekend of the month of May. And we start off the month of June on Monday of next week. And it looks like a sunny day with highs generally in the 70s, a little bit cooler. So it looks like a
Day By Day Northeast Forecast
SPEAKER_00pretty good day today. Look for partial sunshine. Highs will range generally in the upper 70s, low to middle eighties, a little bit warmer in the cities, but a little bit cooler along the shore because the winds will be out of the southeast and right off the border. The ocean is still a bit on the cool side, so any breeze off the water is going to cool things down considerably. Some clouds at night down to about 60 to 65, 50s north and west. And for Wednesday, look for skies to be mostly cloudy with sunny time. So temperatures will range between 80 and 85. Just a slight chance of a late day or shower or even isolated thunder shower. That'll be late Wednesday and Wednesday night. Nighttime low temperatures down to about 55 to 60. Thursday's weather, although might be a late day shower. I think most of the time it'll be dry and rain free, a mostly sunny day. Highs 75 to 80. Friday, sunshine 77. Saturday and Sunday, last two days of the month of May, looking at sunshine 74 on Saturday, also about the same. On Sunday, as mentioned, that first day of June, early next week, temperatures in the 70s and with sunny conditions.
Air Travel Weather And Delays
SPEAKER_00Now, if you're traveling by air today, while the weather is improving in the northeast, we do have still some rainy conditions over northern Georgia, eastern Tennessee, Kentucky, and western sections of the Carolinas. So dry in New York, LaGuardia and JFK and up in the Boston area, dry also in Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul also looking generally dry. It's in the southern states that we're going to have some weather. Rainy conditions in Charlotte and in Nashville. Also rain in Atlanta. It looks like most of Atlanta and northern sections of Mississippi and Alabama, all with the possibility of some locally heavy rain. So that's going to cause low IFR conditions in Atlanta. Hartsfield, and that's where you're going to have some delays today. And looks like scattered isolated thunder showers in central and south Florida. It doesn't look like anything much. I think it'll be okay there. Louisiana, New Orleans looks like rainy conditions. We'll have delays into there. Houston and Dallas, also showers and thunderstorms. West Coast dry in LA, some showers in San Francisco, rainy weather in Portland, and also Seattle, Tacoma, some rain moving in during the afternoon, but no major areas of weather on the West Coast today.
