Quick Intro And Date Check
SPEAKER_00Hi, this is the MiddleBounder Steve Pelletier, and I am the Weatherman. Thanks for checking into the Weathermanpod.com on your Thursday. It's the 18th day of the month of June 2026.
Warm, Windy Setup Before The Front
SPEAKER_00And well, our weather situation for the day is showing some transition. We have a frontal system moving through the mid-Atlantic and northeast, and that means that there will be some thunderstorms, but it'll be a warmest day on strong south winds. So you'll look at early clouds to give way to sunshine and temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s. South winds at 10 to 20 will be gusting up to 35 at times. And they'll be shifting around from the south to a wind from the west. That'll be this evening. That indicates that the frontal system's moved through. Then we'll probably have some thunderstorms just before and slightly after that time
Cooler Nights And A Bright Weekend
SPEAKER_00happens. Then we get into a clearing trend of some decent weather. Overnight temperatures tonight down into the middle to lower 60s after highs today in the lower 90s. It'll go back down into the 60s tonight. And then a sunny day for the holiday Friday. Sunshine, high temperatures of 80 to 85. Clear skies at night, 61. Saturday is sunshine 82. And Sunday, Father's Day, the first day of summer. It looks like a high of 85 degrees and beautiful weather for dads. But it does look like some much-needed showers moving in for Sunday night and also on
National Severe Weather And Tropical Storm Arthur
SPEAKER_00Monday. Some of that shower action may be the result of some moisture moving towards the northeast from Tropical Storm Arthur and a heavy rainfall in the south that's going to be occurring and severe weather is likely in the Midwest. An outbreak of severe thunderstorms is expected across portions of Illinois and Indiana tonight and during the morning hours on Thursday. Intense tornadoes, swaths of damaging winds, and hail in excess of two inches in diameter is possible for the upper Mississippi River Valley. On the other hand, tropical storm Arthur will continue to produce strong winds across coastal Upper Texas and Louisiana into Thursday morning, as well as potential life-threatening flooding across southern Louisiana and into Mississippi. Maybe on Sunday night or on Monday. But it all depends on the tracking of the system. Still a little bit uncertain at
Air Travel Forecast And Airport Delays
SPEAKER_00this time. But if you are traveling by air today, a cold front will be moving through the northeast sometime between 5 and 8 p.m. on Thursday. And at that time, there could be some thunderstorms. Looks like before that time it will be dry. So the New York area, North LaGuardia, JFK, and even up in the Boston area, the weather should be okay. But it will be getting under thunderstorms, so that will cause delays into the northeast during the later afternoon and evening hours today. Also, similar areas of rainfall and delays into Charlotte and also northern sections of Georgia and Atlanta, Hartsfield. Even down to Central and South Florida, there'll be some scattered thunderstorms. At least Houston's going to start drying out. Dallas, still some thunderstorms, and the Chicago area, which had some pretty rough weather during the daytime yesterday and last evening, now starting to clear out, and high pressures building into Minneapolis, so some decent weather and no problems flying into there. LA, San Francisco, and Seattle remain dry and relatively weather free. So some pretty good weather if you're getting to the West Coast. Looks like some IFR and possibly rainy weather into Atlanta, a major hub, the busiest airport in the
